with a 375cc engine, it'd be a real hero to drive 130k
my 1966 425 passed its control technique (MOT) today
I've been merrily "hurtling" around in it all day!!! _________________ if it aint broke, fix it till it is |

well that didn't take long
I'm already frustrated by the lack of power!!! its hill climbing abilities are woeful and I live in the mountains, it's quite simply dangerous.
also fuel consumption is poor, due to having to climb in second a lot of the time with the engine flat out and the throttle wide open, it would possibly be okay in a flat city, but on fast open roads it's not up to the job in hand.
but I've already sourced a pair of AM2's and matching boxes with drum brakes
(it was never my intention to retain the little engine, it was made to run to make the MOT as simple as possible, now I have a five year mot I can start modifying it).
I plan on keeping the six volt stuff for the other car, and slowly doing that one up at my leisure, that will stay with the little motor just for popping to town etc. _________________ if it aint broke, fix it till it is |

I like the seat covers. How about just covering the rust on the metal and frames with rust reformer/sealer and keeping that beautiful barn fresh look? |

the issue of stereo in a 2cv is hardly a new one.
here is my current solution.
a 50's record player
I stripped it, and bought a modern mp3 player, then melded the two!!

well the little 425cc died.
so it's time for the 602
the brakes where straightforward, the wheel cylinders from the 425 bolt straight into the 602 backplates, and the handbrake cables are identical
but the exhaust is another matter, it fouls the clutch mechanism on the downpipe, and exits through the mastercylinder
I could easily form a Y shape exhaust to run over the top of the box, but I know that the collector box helps form back pressure and thus torque, so my first plan is to cut the exit pipe out of the collector box, then weld it back in on the other side. _________________ if it aint broke, fix it till it is |

as luck would have it, it is a "walker", but don't worry I paid attention and had a damn good look inside before simply poking the exit pipe in, and welding it up. _________________ if it aint broke, fix it till it is |

well it's in and running, but it was far far from simple, so many modifications it would take me hours to type them out, but I have managed to reatain the interior with round pedals, and even a pull cable starter
pretty pleased with squeezing in the centre bonnet stay too

I agree, I'm thinking it's the rear windows which are spoiling the balance!
it should look better with them filled in. _________________ if it aint broke, fix it till it is |

If you fill the rear windows in, it'll still look odd - front hinged doors & 4 light body & a ripple bonnet. _________________ www.international2cvfriends.com |

LOL, don't tempt me!
I'll change the lot before I give up the ripple bonnet!
and I have a donor car in the garden to supply the parts
sooner or later it'll be a 602 suicide door, but I can't do it all in one weekend. _________________ if it aint broke, fix it till it is |
