Thanks p6 its a lovely car.
Etienne, i have to take the sharp edges of the rust with scotchbright pads as its so sharp in places it could cut your hands and might fail the mot as it is.
Ive done a bit of it and laquered it after and it looks superb :-)
I got the engine running after cleaning the points, cleaning the carb and welding up some holes in the inlet manifold. It runs like a swiss watch :-)
Drove it today on a private road to free off the clutch as it was seized onto the flywheel after 30years of storage. It freed off almost straight away and now drives and changes gear perfectly :-)
Wont be long before im cruising the streets in my cool ride :-) :-) :-) :-) _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

It was for sale on ebay Jozef. I agreed a price with the guy over the phone and he went to France to collect it and bring it back to England.
Even he didnt realise how few kilometers it had done since 1966 (18,000k).
Ive nearly finished my 2cv ready for Spain world meeting.
When thats done i can start on Arnold and get him repaired and back on the road again _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

sounds cool
I miss mine. I'd really love to "rebuild" it but better made (now I have the hindsight on what to do and not) and on a chassis with a decent powered engine (an "old" 90 or 100 BMW would be nice). _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

I never quite understood why you sold it anyway as it was so different and looked amazing.
Ive never driven an Ami before but ive loved them for years so i hope its as good as im expectig it to be .
The silencer box under the sill has rusted thru so when its running it sounds amazing with just the front cross box. You can hear both cylinders as they fire which is a great sound.
I agree that a slightly more powerful engine like the beema would be nice but would it be as reliable as the Citroen flat twin????
It certainly wont be as cheap to buy and fit/fabriate etc. _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

...if you want to keep the paint and just get in as good as possible condision, just try this
http://www.rostdelete.de/
We are using this often when saving original paint on Citroens and Vespas.

Not for me guys as i want to keep the rusty look and simply seal it in so it doesnt rust any further. I will stick with the matt laquer and preserve natures work for posterity _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |
