Oh dear. Like that would matter something in 2cv. Too bad that they don't have real problems over there so they have to wast everyone's time.

Sometimes brand new chassis have more difference between legs than this ! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Thanks for offering addresses I wouldn't mind a address in France or Australia at some stage, especially if it comes with a nice job. Right now I'm here so got to register it here, or do a dodgy solution, which is not what I prefer.
I can't believe new chassis are bend that bad unless they got damaged. Probably it was a little more than a cm in my case. Still doesn't hurt but the tüv thinks differntly. Anyhow it doesn't get better from itself and a new chassis is an improvement, so it is a real pitty but nothing more than that.
This is how I transported the chassis, it worked just right...
And the body of the chassis similar picture as on page 1
Started building up the chassis last weekend, axles, fuel tank, brakeline, wiring etc. all fitted to the chassis. Also remade the side legs to bolt them on this chassis, but that is a time consuming job, so didn't get more done.
Try to keep you updated! I want to bring this bloody thing finally on the road
btw, almost forgot to say; it drove really nice with the M4 engine and box, nice and smooth on the motorway. Never driven a 12bhp, but suppose this engine is a improvement over the original 425 unit. |

My brand new 2 CV City chassis had a 2,5cm difference between rear legs and 1cm in the front if I remember right (it's all straight now). I hope for you it's not one of these on the roof of your 2 CV 6 ! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

No tüv needs a tüv approved chassis, otherwise more truble can be expected. Mine is the "famous made in Germany" quality chassis... 2cv city chassis are not approved by tüv afaia.
You know how some english call 2cv city? The accurateness of their chassis says it as well |

Right, I want to get it finished so no didn't waist my time this weekend. Friday I left work early and finished the side legs I started making a week ago.
Back then I make these legs new from sheet metal. Now grinded them of the old chassis and remade them to fit this new chassis. It is completely bolt on, 2 on top to screw it together with the floor and one from below, which I did not make a picture off. All in all worth a good day work, but I think it looks better than a simple box section remade to do the job.
Furthermore I put the chassis number in, fitted spring cans and drivetrain.
Now it starts to look like a car again, but need to set the front suspension higher at first. Ordered parts last night so hopefully get them this week for more work next weekend. |

Knocking the chassis number in is the "god given right" of the RDW approval testing people.
Nevertheless this is pretty much the only thing which is easier in Germany compared to the NL. _________________ I like to play |

Because in every country a chassis nr has to be original. If not, it would be quite easy to steal a random car, buy old paperwork and create a new chassis nr. I suppose it is as illigal as everywhere. Of course you can make your own chassis nr in holland, i've seen them around a lot! You won't have any problem with the MOT, they only check if the nr is the same. But if there ever is any doubt about the nr and they check it proper, you'll be in deep shit. Holland, Spain, Germany, everywhere.
Otherwise, why would a chassis nr be needed anyway? Can't you just leave it out if it doesn't represent originality anyway? |

Because on 2 CV, chassis is just a spare like anything else ?
We don't need chassis number in France... At least not for 30 years old and + cars. _________________ www.super2cv.com |

you know that
I know that
hell everybody knows that
but they just don't give a shit
its"there number!"
but it's not that hard to let them do it
I just had an A from 1960 from france a couple of weeks ago
with no papers what so ever
and no chassis nr on the right spot
no problem at all
got a new nr licenceplates and MOT in one
rdw did not check brakes
did not check lights
did not check chassis
all the did was check the origine of the car by the nr on the small chassis plates
next is the '58
but the rules have changed in jan
there are only 5 rdw stations you can go to now with your oldtimercars _________________ https://picasaweb.google.com/bram.martsen |
