Well, my name is Jerome and I'm from Holland.
I'm 18 and this is my first car, at the moment I haven't a driving license but I'm working on it! (hope to pass my driving examn in 2 months)
I bought a 2CV6 from 1984 for a small price. The stood in the shed for 12 years, but at the moment it has MOT!
When I bought the car it has 1 small hole in the chassis. The fenders and doors were bad, but the crucial points were very good!
After 2 weeks hard work by my dad and I, it passed the MOT test. After 12 years back on the road!
We repaired the chassis and some small holes in the floor.
I bought another 2cv for some parts, for a very very small price (we were very lucky with this deal) I have a lot parts now. I've got a 123 ignition, new rubbers, dampers, exhaust, tires, bumpers, headlights etc. etc.
The plan is to customize the car. (lots of inspiration on this forum!)
I've already lowered it and put an Azam steering wheel in it. I've got a cross bumper set, but I'm looking for a Azam bumper set. I want to keep it low budget (poor student )
Next step is to make the technic reliable, and then looking for some other fenders and then paint it by hand in a matte color. (these are future plans)
First thing to do:
Make the car reliable
Paint the wheels
Cleaning up the interior
Add some stickers and repaint some places
Overspray the stripes etc.

Yeah, I visited it the past weeks a lot for some parts. A colleague showed me your car at the parking. Your car is awesome! |

One of the 'Nederlandse jeugdherberg centrale'
There is a 2 on the plate because the car never had these new plates (only the GAIK plates), and the last owner requested these new plates but he never used (and lost) them. So there is a 1. When we bought these new plates we forgot the original plates, so we got these 2 on it.
Does anyone know these stripes? I can't find anything on the internet.
Those doors with the stripes were rotten, so I replaced them but I'm interested. Is this car maybe a special edition?
I've bought a spraycan in the good color, so I respray some places (till the overspray) and I want to add some stickers.
Something like this.

like I said
it's a 2cv from the nederlandsejeugdherbergcentrale
in the 80s you could rent one of these 2cv for your holidaytrips
there is not much to find on the net

Too bad you get rid of those original side stripes, they were way cooler than that grey wannabe too fat shelby stripe.

Thanks Brammie! Interesting info!
I didn't know that, I couldn't find anything on the web of these stripes and thought they we're hand made.
But the doors etc where these stripes were on were oversprayed and those stripes were very ugly painted by hand. Those doors were rotten and they are replaced. Also the trunk with the tree etc. (never seen such a rotten trunk)
So at the moment almost every part with those details are gone..
Olli, well those 'Shelby' stripes are only an idea. I like them the most in the configurator
Yesterday we've made the first 'big' drive with the car. 60km's and it was going very well! There's a lot of dirty fuel in it, so we were driving the tank empty.
The height is okay now for a smooth drive, so I'm enjoying it!
Cannot wait to drive it myself! |

Did some things this week, I've removed the stripes and resprayed some parts. I've also mounted a cross bumper at the back. (Still looking for AZAM bumpers). I'm gonna paint the wheels black with red.
I had some thoughts about the rear lightpanel. Maybe some old AMI6 rearlights? Someone experience with changing the rearlights without changing the whole rearlightpanel? |

AMI 6 rearlights became 2cv lights of course.
But the difference is that the AMI6 had an aluminium strip on the edge that they didn't fit on later 2cvs.
You could find a pair of them and spray them with red varnish so that they are all red (these cans of spray paint are available at your local car supermarket in the "tuning" section.
It would be the most cost/time effective way to clean up the rear lights without going into body welding, paint etc.
Just sober and simple OE shaped lights with that slight different touch.
However, if the rear panel needs changing... thats a different story, you might be better off welding in an older version panel right away _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

I ment the old round AMI6 rear lights and numberplate lightning
I think that will change the whole look from behind.
An old rearpanel is also an option, but for the moment I've not the time for it. Maybe in the future |
