Wide Etienne? If you mean the tyre size, no no problem, I had 14" rims with 155 tyre (Ahum VW Lupo 3L), probably if you look for a wintertyre a 145 size is easy to find if I am not mistaken a (uche) audi A2 3L has 145 tyre on 14" rim. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

The Audi A2 has 155 or 165/65r15 tires, no? There is few of them in my street I already checked!
But I mean 14" tires in low profile, these are often wide. Not regular profile.
Example:
It was about this kind of tire you were talking about, isn't it?
I fast check on a tire website what are smallest size in 14":
Smallest wide:
155/55R14 = 52,61cm diameter
Smallest profile:
195/40R14 = 51,16cm diameter
The last one is the same size than the Opel of my example, and really too wide for a 2cv! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Hi Etienne, the Audi A2 1.2 tdi has 14" rims but with 145/80 tyres, so width is ok but much higher, total about 587mm. May be to high.
The lupo has 155/65 R14 which would be 557mm _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

The advantage of a 14 inch rim is that the rim ring doesn't touch the bottum of the kingpin (that is at least what I've seen on Spa racers..) as happens now is Stephan's case with the 13 inch rim. So a 14 inch rim should allow an other ofset and thus the use of wider tyres, possibly with a low profile.
Cheers, Bart |

Hi
I have a set of 13 inch rims that have the same interior offset as a 2cv but do not touch anything.
Etienne is having them if we manage to meet one day _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

I might be wrong, but I think thats a MK3 Taunus, at least, going on the logic that its the same car as a MK3 Cortina (the UK market name for the Taunus)
Not that it matters on a 2cv forum.... _________________

Hi Stefan
I had good pictures, but my PC melted it's brains...
I can do measures of them. I was told by the guy I bought them off that it was Opel Outer rim...
this is what I have found on the web :
They are about one inch wider than original
here is a sketch the seller sent me :
for non french speaking guys :
-Coté flasque : Hub side
All measures in mm _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

i just calculated that with a gs engine and gs 4 speed gearbox the top speed @6000 rpm would be something about 126 km/u..... that isn't really good. don't know what to do really ,or is there a way to change the gearbox ratio? _________________

Still faster than regular 2cv
There is some "long gears" 4 speed gearbox, no? or it's with this one you calculated this? _________________ www.super2cv.com |
