On 2cv.nl I noticed that some former 2cv drivers stop driving because of fisical problems. They stil would love to drive a 2cv but that would mean mechanical changes to the car.
For example power steering.
CVT gearbox
Brake assistance.
I know there are many technical people on snail, maybe some already made one of these sollutions and would love to share and help the 2cv fans.

maybe you can fit a c-matic gearbox from a gs? than you don't have a clutch anymore. but i have never built something like that so don't know if it gonna fit. _________________

Hi
this system bolts onto a 2cv and an electronically controlled pneumatic (I think) system actions the gearbox fork in order to declutch, when the driver touches the gearknob.
I'm sure that can be built at home, with some sort of solenoid or such ? _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

A friend of me is in a wheel chair and he has something like this system on his car. He brakes with hand, there is a really simple mechanic connection to the pedal. For the speed pedal he can move his footh but it could possible to make a mechanic connection too.
About the 2CV, the main problem is to get in and out the car. Seats are so soft, you fall in them. Once my Grandman was in my 2CV, and it was quite difficult for her to get out of it!! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

How does it work on a GS or BX? A assume you can use that system, alternate is to exchange LHM system with Dot4 system and use dot4 servo form older mini or fiat127 sports. The servo system is a good system, because the normal brake cilinder stays in it place and from there you connect the brake line to the servo. The servo can be placed anywhere under the bonnet. From the servo the brake line goes to the brakes.
I don't have a drawing or picture, but maybe someone has. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

Hello backfire,
older hydro Citroens (DS, GS, BX, CX) have a 'valve' which is just moved by brake pedal (much less leg force required than usually - funny to see newbies 1st time :) ) to connect pressured line (>140bar?) with brake lines.
Check "citroen guide.pdf" (605kB) by Željko Nastasic´ & Gábor Deák Jahn page 48 to study the system.
Classical cars and also LHM A models has got a iston which is 'forced' by leg.
Maybe it's possible to use/connect a vaccum box into a DOT A model.
I don't want to convert hole brake system to boring DOT. Even I have a set of brand new Axel brakes on the shelf which would love DOT. Maybe a LN/LNA/Visa/Pug104 main brake cylinder would fit so just rear brakes must be exchanged. The orthodox LHM/DOT guys would also change each seal at each line connection.
No idea if there is a suitable main brake cylinder which also fits in A model fire wall.
I don't know how vacuum assisted brakes work in detail --> I haven't thought about/how to realize this feature in my Ami.
Is it possible 'just' to connect the vacuum box at front brake line? I'm afraid there is a 'special' on/off valve required.
A modyfied brake system must provide the original brake forces under all circumstances!
What's about the 24h-race 2CVs? No brake assistence?

What's the point of brake assistance on a car as light as a 2cv...
If you're so handicapped that you can't even brake a 2cv without assistance I don't think you should be on the road at all...

Some people thath are Reumatic can drive and brake but it hurts after a while driving. The less force you have to use for braking, shifting and steering the less pain they have. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |
