has anyone experience in repairing 2cv transmission?
i fucked up mine yesterday.
drove backwards, too fast. rear-gear is in. i'm not able to shift.
i've read its possible ro repair if 3rd gear is in, or neutral. _________________ in rust we trust... |

Malte,
photograph below is the selector ring which you need to rewind onto its thread.
Once it's back in place, peen the edge of the ring into the grooves of the 2nd/3rd gear sliding pinion.
This is a known weakness of A series gearboxes, as well as the nuts at the rear of the mainshaft and pinion shaft working loose.
Prevention is better than curing, so it's always best to carry out this work before the inevitable happens...
There's also this description, but note that the author didn't know the difference between 'rewinding' and 'unwinding'.
That's what happens when someone gets involved with 2CVs just long enough to bang out a poorly researched book.

thanks for your help.
i tried to repair it, but gave up after 2hrs of trying.
no way to put the gear-pinion on the other.
i decided to change the transmission. a good chance to put in a lightened flywheel! :)
i will try to repair the transmission later. will take some pics then.
thanx anyway. _________________ in rust we trust... |

It's good opportunity to remember everyone to never drive fast and/or long in reverse with a 2 CV. Always always go slow and carefully... This is the weakness of this gear box... _________________ www.super2cv.com |

jap etienne, thats right! usually i drive slow and with grinding clutch! went good for 8 years on my other 2cv.
the information that all <84 transmissions are more solid is wrong.
my 84 one was just 2/3 times "secured" at the synchron-ring?!
i've learned! it will never happen again i hope! _________________ in rust we trust... |
