it's better to have a blind spot that you know about than try to fit almost sure-to-be ugly sidewindows
keep up the good work ! _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

tonight i'm working on the doors, will post some pictures later.
i'm having a couple idea's for the rear of the car. i would like to use the standard closed fender and also the bootlid as a tailgate.
here are two sideviews of what i have in mind. the main difference is the tailgates sloping down (nr1) or sloping up (nr2). what do you think is nicest?

First lower the car i little bit, then align the rearfender with the car, since now it is pointing up. Try to extend the line fromt the door with the back.
Some nice idea from Olli on this page http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/snail-ftopic16.html _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

@backfire;
i'm not shure if i will make the bottom straight. i like that the bottom line off the 2CV sweeps up, and since i'm making the bed of wood i hope i can keep that. thanks for the advice anyway
here a picture of tonight's work:
doors and also sunvisor
i'm probably gonna use a rear couch for seats. it is nearly the right height and shape, so i don't have to cut up a front couch.
downside is that it is also more narrow... |

I believe the rear fender is aligned with the car frame. But since the bottom line of side window(s) is sloping down (compared to the frame) and the car in the drawing has factory height leaning a bit forward, the fender line looks like it's pointing up.
I'd go for tailgate sloping up or just straight up. |

done some work today!
modified the front fenders and headlight bracket.
i also started closing up the hole for the indicators in the fenders, i want to run an indicator mounted high behind the door, or (/and) one on top of the front fender.
while i was at it, narrowed the bracket with couple cm's so the headlights are closer together. |

i'll just keep posting:
used a clamp from a little bike to make my steering column adjustable. mainly to get easier in and out. when you ride it will be in the lowest position.
also placed the windscreen wiper motor and adapted the window heating system, this is all different because i deleted the ventilation shutter and placed the window frame lower.
began working on rear fenders! i will chop up 4 rear fenders and weld 'em together. this picture show how it will look, this picture is with the chassis (more or less) on ride-height! |

Hey Kadaver, a little while ago i built a pickup called 'SCAR' and cut out the front vent panel to allow the screen to drop down a bit lower. Heres a few photos of her. I fitted my wipers above the screen because i built my own screen frame and connected it up to the old fresh air vent and that way i could open the front screen when it got hot in the car during the summer. Anyway take a look, they may of some help to you.
Cheers, Tony

I like the set-up!
Makes me think of a design I made a long time ago, with the original rear fenders and boot lid:
What are you gonna do with the sides and floor of the bucket? |

@rossero:
hey man, i really like your drawing!!
the details are very close to what i want; to use a narrow rear bumper, wooden planks with little slits in between for the bed, and the sunvisor does look like the one i made. but i will make the bed a little bit longer (than the chassis' legs).
for the sides of the bed and the floor i'm thinking of making a metal frame with wood. and not paint it, but treat it with wax or oil to give i a nice effect.
@tony england:
thanks for the tips! i have been thinking about setup but did'nt do it because it ment even more work, and i need the regidity of the top of the window frame. because the polyester roof does'nt prodive much stiffness.
but the way the window opens looks cool, it's much seen on american hotrods.
i hope the car does'nt warm up to much though, since i can't open the roof or air vent.
@olli:
that pickup looks really wellbuilt. i like the way the moulding continues (not round the back of the cabin), but what i don't is that the bed is flush with the sides of the cabin.
it's a pity you can't easily put a 2cv in this stance (with cambered rear wheels and narrow front axle |

Too bad, I think that's really the good thing on that pick-up beetle...
