|
|
I've just bought some Atlas whitewall inserts and tried to fit them on a tubeless 125 michelin. When I try to reinflate the tyre they won't stay in place. I fitted them dry. Euro retro tell me I don't need the steel rim embellishers to hold them in place. Franzose tell me I do. Does anyone have experience or tips , please? |

Fransoze tells you you need the trim, cause in Germany this kind of white wall fitted between rims and tires are forbidden. _________________ www.super2cv.com |

And they are forbidden because they wear the sides of the tyres out

Hi
Thanks for the help. But do you mean Franzose don't know what they're talking about because they have no experience of whitewall inserts because they're illegal in their country?
Are there usually problems getting them to stay on (in other countries)?
My deuche does very little mileage so I'm not too worried about tyre wear.
Finally, if there are these problems why do I see so many whitewalls on nice sites like this?
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it.

a real whitewall is not painted. the canvas is white and the rubber is black. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

i think you are mixing up the different types of whitewall rings.
1.ATLAS
the atlas whitewalls are put between rim and tire.
these ones are illegal in germany and really dangerous.
they could rubb down the tirewall and fuck up your tire!

2.RAVUS
the white-wall rings which are sold by derfranzos.de are
Ravus whitewall rings. they are clipped in the rim by chrome rings.
they are more or less legal in germany.

there is also the option of vulcanizing white rings at your tires. but this is really expensive! _________________ in rust we trust... |

Thanks a lot, Malte. Clarity at last. Do you have the Ravus rings or any information on whether they work, please?

you're welcome!
ravus ones exist of 3 pieces
a black plastic ring
a white plastic ring ( the wall )
a chrome ring
black and white rings are getting clipped in the "border"of the rim.
chrome ring fixes that!

Again, thanks a lot. Dyou have them on your car and do they work?
I have already paid for some Atlas ones which don't work and I don't want to order from der Franzose unless I'm confident they work.
Thanks again for your time.

they work great with a lot of tire sizes!
but at some(for example 155/70/15 ) there is a little wave in the white-wall.
but you only see that when you go take a look at it really close. _________________ in rust we trust... |

Now to get rid of the Atlas ones!
