Cooling is indeed crucial when not driving at full speed.
The Paris Traffic Jam at 50 years 2CV showed that. Not only overheating engines, but vapor lock in the carbs as well.
And the tricycle-kit-car Avion Black Jack got some problems too in a traffic jam, because no forced cooling.
A solution I once saw was radiators on the bulkhead, cooled by fans on top. _________________ Find your parts @ www.reKup.net ! |

There must be somewhere where you can put an oil cooler with an electric fan. Only worry then is what remains of the pressure if you have oil pipes of 2 metres to the cooler (and back), instead of 30 cm? _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Sure, this is a way... and for the pressure, maybe with a little bit more oil it will be cool... But may be it needs to add an extra oil pump also...
I have to test... As JoZef says, measure twice, cut once ... _________________ I'm a Rod Breaker

If you higher the volume of oil, the cooling gets better also. A simple matter of mathematics. More oil = more possibility of heat-exchange.
Another simple way of doing this is fitting an oversized/bigger filter, with or without adapter.
Some specialised 2CV-shops have them ready-from-the shelf. _________________ Find your parts @ www.reKup.net ! |

Indeed the adaptors work very good I have on my visa engine a filter of half a liter. I still need to install my meter zo that i can really read the tempature but in 50 000 km i have don with it i didn't have any problem.

I have a extra oil cooler on my 1300 gs engine.
and i have the standard oil pump it has enough oil pressure left
about 3 bars at 3000 rpm.
the oil is about 35 degrees cooler then whitout it. _________________

Hi stefan, and welcome !
I need to know more about your car ! Did you just add an extra oil cooler or did you made other modifications ? for example do you still have the cooled pans, the fan and so on ?
About your oil pressure, are you sure 3 bars are enough ? The technical datas recommends 4.7 bars at 2000 rpm and 6.2 to 6.7 bars at 6000 rpm, so about 5 bars at 3000 rpm...
and about your oil temp, you say it's about 35° cooler than whitout the extra cooler, but how much is your oil average temperature ? I think the ideal temp is 80°C, and the hotest shall be 130°C...
Cheers.

i do have some more modifications (turbo of a renault 5 gtt, other clutch and much more ,it has now 105 hp and 160 nm of torque) but the cooling is standard on the exception of the extra oil cooler.
the oil pressure is a bit low but it works, i drive almost 50.000 km with it so far so that is not a problem i think.
average oil temp is about 90°C @ 120 km/h if i go faster it wil be like 110°C
and only if i drive very slow it wil be higher up to 130°C _________________
