there are smaller and more powerful alternators on the market nowadays. With replacing the pulley (what is that thing called the belt runs over?) with one from a 2cv alternator, you can fit one.
also fitting one on the gearbox might be an option perhaps. Not that i have ever seen one, but, if an electric starter fits, why would a gear driven alternator not fit? Just a thought?
Looking nice though, that completely disassembled 2cv like that _________________ If it ain't fast, make it LOUD!!! |

About that alternator-might-be-problem... Instead of relocating it, why not make a nice looking "bulge" on the bonnet to make room 4 it? |
Yes, definate possibility... I did like the way Etienne had it sticking out of the Dyane...

Project Back on track!!
Just spent 5 days on the car... fitting body to chassis, making cuts and plates for the sake of clearances... remade the lower back section, 70mm at back;), the same as old 2cv's clean straight panel. One thing i realise is that now the back panel hangs lower than the chassis.... so i have created a wind brake... thinking a small mod similar to Raid Runner to cut back section on rear guards to remove this, but will it upset the lines to much??? Pics to follow soon...

Hi Good job.
For a channeling of 5cm, you do not move the alternator.
One can make channeling until 8 or 9cm without anything to move under the bonnet except filter has air. |

Your reasoning not good.
The more important the channeling is, the less you drop your chassis. Thus you can have a lower look with the same height of chassis. |

In any event to lower the alternator difficult is not compared with the channeling and I think that it is stupid to stop with this kind of detail in a channeling project. |

been at it for another week...
Modified the lower back panel to remove some of the drag left over from channeling.
mounted the cut-down bumper bars.
I now know that nothing is straight or true on a 2cv, where to line up and mesure from....
Floors and tail lights next;)

Lookin' good there, Harley...
Has your revised rear panel got rid of the usual rust trap caused by the double skinning in that area?
If so, can it be copied under licence, as I've got a project in the pipeline which requires the spare wheel well to be eliminated?

Hello
if its flat between the bumber and the trunk lid it looks better. And than the 4 lights are in deep round holes, thats ok.

I think this setup looks too much like "home made". This hole under boot
where lights are located does not look so smooth, especially if you wanna
bring the lights out like this. Also angle of these plastic rings around lights is
so different with rest of the 2cv back, that it makes it look messy.
