|
|
Hi, i'm new on this forum
I'm already active on the 2cv.nl forum
My name is jeroen (the call me Jerre), and I'm studying car-techinics in school
I'm 16 now and own a 27 year old Dyane in Vert Jade
At the moment i'm restoring it with my dad, so its in pieces now
I'm thinking of customising it a bit, not to much
This is how it was when I bought it
Its now like this
And i want it to be something like this
Now to the point, I have some questions about the sidepipe
-Is it hard to make something like it yourself ?
-Does it affect the power or anything much ?
-what kind of noise does it make ?

hello Jerre and welcome to this forum.
Nice car and good project. You could lower the car as well to get this kind of result:

Thats a bit too low for me
I am thinking of lowering it a bit, but keeping the stock parts
How low can I get it that way, without cutting anything up and without the handeling getting too bad or anything
Could anyone make as Shop af how that would look(on the pic with the pipe ), and with the blinker upside down
like this (Thats a factory error ), it looks kinda cool

You can that low with the original parts and no cutting.
If you want to go lower and use original shocks. You can better take the ones from Monroe instead of Lips. Monroe is a little bit harder and it will prevent the nose from hitting the ground while driving a speedbumb.
Otherwise you need harder shocks like Avo ore something and they're 75 euro's a piece. |

Sidepipe is easily made from stainless steel or regular steel, if you can weld. Take a straight piece of pipe, 6 mm for instance, and two 90 degree angles. Test fit under the car and wel together. Then make a flange on the end, to fit to the pipe that comes from your first damper.
Here you can see it when it was just installed:
And here's the sound:

Hey bart, your car gave me the idea for a side pipe Thats one cool ride you have there
And it sounds great , but you cant hear it so good because of the song in the clip
About the handeling after stock lowering, is it realy that bad ??? _________________ A-Types, Guitars And Heavy Metal ... Thats The Life

No, it's better in my case but my car has a longer wheelbase (+25cms) and the weight distribution is different, due to the 50kg heavier wood.
The only thing that gets worse is the heavier steering, because the kingpins lean back further when lowered. It's a personal thing how far you want to go with that. Just remember to leave at least 15 mm of thread on the tie rod ends and experiment!
Be sure to post some pictures of your customized Dyane. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Ofcourse
I just made this (with paint )
That about how I want it
but my dad says that the wheelarms will hit the stopblocks realy fast when there are gonna be people in the car when it is lowered like that and you drive a bumpy road
but I dont think its gonna be that bad when its just lowered that bit (about 5-8cm I think), Right _________________ A-Types, Guitars And Heavy Metal ... Thats The Life

It's not that bad when you slow down a little for speed bumps. Stiffer dampers help a lot if you have trouble with that but just experiment. You can change it back when you don't like it really easily. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Yes, just try how low you think it's best. It's a easy job to change the hight of the car. |

I would go with very thin sidepipe.. As they call them Lake Pipes.
Maybe even closed from the end and very close to the body.
I think that sort of fat side pipe, especially in car which does not have any
other changes looks very 80-90's.

Small pipes do look good but give high pitched exhaust note. A bigger diameter gives more bass tones to the sound.
Hey Jerre, you could also buy my car and save yourself a lot of work. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Yeah I saw you are selling it
But I like my car, no matter how cool some others are, because...well its my car
And I don't think that you could get your car legaly on the road here in Belgium.
About the pipe, what diameter gives the best/coolest sound
About 50-60mm ?
And I'm not sure about lowering it, I'm first gonna see how it stands when its completly ready, and when there are people in andso... _________________ A-Types, Guitars And Heavy Metal ... Thats The Life

I think 30mm is maximum that your car still works.
