So, Matt Black, (should have been Jack Black ) is it safe to bore up standard 2CV sylinders to fit visa pistons? The walls are thick enough?
And where do they sell Visa pistons and rings? The rings must be compatible with the 2CV-sylinders. The Visa and 2CV sylinders isnt of tha same material have I heard. |
Jack Black is my hero!
Yep it's kind of 'safe', but offcourse you crank gets more to handle with visa pistons, allmost everything you do to make the engineperformance go up, will make the durability go down..
If you want a perfect engine that will last, keep it original.
If you want perfromance, live with the idea some stuff will break eventually.
Burton Car sells the pistons and bored up barrels.. _________________ www.customs-classics.nl

Not to interrupt the subject of this thread too much, but for those looking for that little bit of extra torque there is also the very simple mod of lightening the flywheel. My brother and i will be applying this next month, and for 75 euro it's fairly cheap! |

lightening the fly wheel does not give you extra torque, only quicker response. In slow traffic lightening the fly wheel is even worse to drive then with old heavy flywheel. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

Ok. I still think these 9:1 kits are a nice thing if power isn't that important. It's better than the original anyway, if you need new pistons/sylinders.
But if a "feel-able" powergain without very much modifications/work/money is the goal, it seem like a big-bore kitt can do the trick.
Anyone got something to say about this company and they're big-bore kits?

i haven't bought something there myself, but some people say that the owner is really unreliable and unfriendly.
but what about the burton big bore kit, has anyone experience with that? _________________ in rust we trust... |

That's that Maurice guy, i know his 'tuning-skills' are perfect, but his 'people-skill' is very bad..
I was in the middle of ordering 20! fully tune up engines from him, but my customer who wanted to buy them was constantly changing his mind on what he wanted exactly. Mr. Maurice thought it was taking to long, so he ended the email conversation, just because it took to long.. we are talking about weeks here, not months, so in my opinion it was a little bit strange way of doing business...
But keep in mind, that's just what i experienced, maybe others have different experiences.. _________________ www.customs-classics.nl

Well, he have this on he's web-site, sooo......
http://www.citroentuning.de/customers.html
Not his words, but still a unusual thing to have on a company website if you ask me.
I've talked to a guy here in Norway, he ordered 2 bigbore kit with tuned camshaft and carb.jets. He had no problems with the guy.
But obviously STP isn't a safe bet.... _________________ 2CV x3

He is if you're nice enough to admit he is always right...
I guess with at least 25 years of 2cv tuning behind he does know his subject...

At least, now if someone wants order there, he knows how does it work! _________________ www.super2cv.com |
