It's an adventidge when you're going to drive offroad.
We allso longered the drivetrains (cardans) because of the height of the car.
But we're still looking for some good tires.
We were thinking about 15" 145 80 or something like that. But it's difficult. Still searching.
What kind of tires did you use?

It depends a lot on what kind of terrain you will be driving. Most of the times I think it will be sand and rocks? Then the best choice is ordinairy wintertires!
Don't go for a too high tire because it will cost you your gearbox and you won't be able to use your 4th gear. Go as standard as possible.
I had 135x15 Michelins ( X M+S 100) and they gave me good grip but I'm not sure if they are available any more.
Yesterday I spoke to a guy who drove a rally to the Nile (river) with an Peugeot 304 and they used tires whose where for a bus! Same size but much much stronger. Never thought of that realy...
Btw, the tyres on the pic are extreme ones and they run only well because there's a Suzuki Samurai underneath it

I would say that 155 is a bit wide but on the other hand with very low pressure they shood run good on the sand.
These were the tires I ment:
As you can see they are not very high and thats very nice in combination of the 2cv-power(...) and mud/sand etc.

and 155 is about the widest you can go on the back without modifying any of the body. And keep the regular fenders, though, that would maybe not be an issue with a sand vehicle, i guess you have those half open ones on the back?
Ow well, then again, they do not have to be wider then standard

dont push it when you go up steep hills other wise you will have no gear box |

Yesterday I fisited an offroad meeting for 2cv's.
They recomanded allso vredestein wintertyres.
Some people thought that Hancook tyres excist allso in that size.
But there are allso people who drive with tire's of an VW beetle in the size of 5.60x15".
The perfect tire would be 145 80 15" with stiff walls and soft contact on the road.
We want to have a higher tire for more free groundspace.
Yes, we know that it's neccecary for adapting the gearbox.
We want to have the same speed as a standard 2cv, but with higher tires and shortened ratios of the gearbox.
That wouldn't be a problem.
The most underground will be indeed sand and rocks, so mudtyres would digg the 2cv to much in the ground when you drive in dry soft sand.

Indeed, we allready opened the rear fenders, for easyer tire changes. |

Update:
Rear fenders: finished and mounted.
Rear doors: allmost finished, but mounted.
Bonet: It fit's!
Front fenders: They fit allso! And the shortening is succeeded.
Now working to make it all smooth and afterwards we can paint it!

Backfire,
Are those tires vredestein?
And what size of height do they have?
Do you allso have a standard michelin-tire that you can hold next to, for to compere the height?
