Sorry, I just try to help.
I dont have anything so much against red wheels if they fit in style.
but here when car is guite regular and light colored, for MY opinnion red is
too heavy color. When using strong custom cliches like red wheels here in
almost original car it makes it look caricaturistic custom. Also like these
scalloops, same thing, they need to be think good to get good looking
result - othervice they go easily caricaturistic. Then its just funny
custom. So I prefere to make it in style. 2cv have been alredy enough
that car people just laugh.
thanks,

Sorry Olli but with gold rims, I think it shall be also funny...
If for you, gold color = kustom, for most of french people = subaru or clio williams... even if the car isn't blue... _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Olli, (and the others!), I want your opinion, it's the goal of the forum...
If I didn't want it, I wouldn't post my car !
So thanks for the snailers' opinion : I want them... Don't be sorry to try to help me!
But I don't like gold rims!
I want first something discreet... I think I will choose a dark color (red/brown/grey), in order to contrast with the light color of the car.... _________________ Tibo & Rose-Yvonne

My opinion is to keep the "Beige albatros" and keep a standard or stock spirit for this car...
Low is so good, May be Tibo can repaint the wheels ... There's no matter because the wheels are not in the good standard colour (AC 136 - Gris Rosé) _________________ -Thierry- |

Olli is right, even if it's a classic, red rims (on black cars) sometimes seems overdone.
Maybe a lightly different approach?
darker red (Citroen red corsaire?)
yellow/gold?
orange?
even copper (OK, this one is black)
green anyone?

Hmmm...
But most "cool custom 2cv" owners don't agree when you point out that their rims are exactly the same as Lada Niva or Mitsu 4x4 wheels...
"No mine have 3 studs..."
And by the way, Tony, a forum is NOT the place where you can just post pics and say this is how I like it and I don't care... because obviously people are going to pipe up and give their impressions... and share Ideas...
Olli said why he thought his ideas could work, based on arguments... that's sort of the point of this board...
But no problem, "I love your car, you're so great, it's awesome, so perfect don't change a thing it's the raddest ride ever" if that makes you feel better...

LOL
Of course this car is NOT a Subaru or a Clio Williams, and the final result is realy impressive ! (and the scallops : whaou!)
But it's not a Dyane... and I fear the same color on a Dyane sould be less impressive, more "ridiculous"... What do you think about it?
I won't change my body paint on the Dyane for the moment...
I was first thinking about a dark red on rims, like the first pic about Lionel... but this pic :
may make me reflect... (not realy different than gold one, but less "flashy" for me)
Difficult to imagine the final result ! _________________ Tibo & Rose-Yvonne

Hi
Of course, it's not a Dyane... it's Steve Caballero's awesome Ford Hot Rod...
And, I can perfectly understand you're not going to repaint the car now...
But
Standard rims are silver metallic... maybe a "white gold" (or blanc) shade of gold could be subtle and stylish ? not copper gold or orange gold, that might be too flashy with the standard paint. A "gold tinted metallic silvery gold colour" ( ) is what I'm talking about...
My 2 cents.
Cheers

Jozef, i think you have missed the point. Yes i realise that if you put a picture of a car or whatever on this or any forum you are going to get other peoples comments and views. Lets face it, its a free world and everyone has an opinion and their own taste.
What i was trying to point out is, that if the vehicle is yours and no one else's, by all means take on board other peoples views but ultimately you have got to drive around in it and if you are happy with GOLD,RED,PINK wheels then that is YOUR DECISION.
Sorry if i offended anyone, it was not my intension _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

yeah, dark brown or copper.
I like the idea of Rouge Corsaire rims with a proper slammed car, then rim embellishers on the outer part of the wheel, remove small things from the exterior to make it smoother and uncluttered (door handles, badges, boot handle) it will look subtle but should be different enough to still stand out and make people say 'oh, thats different'
Of course, you could leave it in a feild for months, cane it to france once and the scrap it, then buy an Ami and be truly cool. thats what I did anyway (apart from the 'become truly cool' bit)

I remember seeing Dyane with "gold tinted metallic silvery gold colour" kind of paint, a standard citroen color, makes them look like a gold brick, maybe someone got the reference?

I would paint the rims a bit fuller than Vert Jade. Vert Jade is a bit empty, so it should be a little bit greener. Than add some sixties hubcaps from an Ami 6 or Azam (aluminium with wide border) and a very fine white wall to keep some contrast with the body. Bare metal scallops could be cool too, but not on this colour. Black will be fine.
And gold would be fantastic too! Goes well with black details. I remeber a beetle on Hoodride. The body was all black finished with golden scallops and gold rims, looked great.
