You can also take a cylinder head on another engine.

Remember this?

Oil is leaking from there, just a bit, but it would be stupid to change the head of that engine anyway!

I'll see how it does react by heating these screws.

Put too huge (10mm) nut on broken bolt. Then weld nut on broken bolt (try
to get really good/deep welding) then when its still hot (not red anymore)
try to open it. You can do this again as many times as you have something
left of your bolt.

Then last change is drill the bolt away and make new 8mm
dread there.

I think I got all my bolts on alloy open.

Ok thanks for that idea Olli.

So I'll start with Stefan methods by just hitting the screw and try with a grip.
Then I'll heat.
Then I'll weld the nut.

It should work! But I don't think I will have the time to do that tomorrow. I have an article to finish to write.

Etienne,
please don't hit the broken stud, since the most likely result is that the alloy will break... Sad
Use heat from a blowlamp, which should expand the alloy so that there's more chance for the grips to start undoing the stud.
Ken.

Hi,

The studs aren't melted into the head, you can just screw them out and replace them. I just did the same thing with my 425cc Dyane.

Finally I changed the engine. It just started this morning and it runs fine. Very Happy

Just have to fit front fenders and the bonnet (and few details to check) and it will be back on the road this week-end.
