hi,
Well im planning to chanel my dyane around 5 cm after the world meeting,
but now i found out there's a lot of rust and i went looking further and even more rust.
So now im thinking of doing it before the world meeting..
but i have a few questions.
how much time does it take?, if got all the tools for hands so that isn't a problem.
And how do you solve the problem of the steering column / pedals?
Maybe some tips or things u need to look for ?
greets, joey |

Hi Joey!
It takes alot of time... But it is not too complicated. I am right now channeling my 2CV 6cm (floor over sills) and have been at it on and off this winter during weekends and evenings. See some pictures under "Dolly Parton" under "Your Ride". See also for example Malte's channeling project.
There are different ways to do it. I have cut out 6cm in the vertical part of the engine wall and have then raised the whole floor, including the rear part of the floor 6cm's. The most difficult bit is to raise the pedal assembly - that takes some thinking and a whole lot of welding.
Also a number of items needs to be adjusted:
- shorten gear lever
- shorten hand brake lever
- the steering colum will need a universal joint to allow for the angle
- chairs need to be lowered
This is not the complete list, but most of it - to give you an idea.
Cheers and Good Luck!!

well, that sounds pretty easy, but i'm probably ill get some problems along the way. i'm a cnc miller/lathe and iv got almost everything at hands like a flow jet and so would it be more easy to cut some pieces ? and about raising the pedals, dont u get a to small space between the pedals and the dash ? iv already made a custom dash for my Dyane witch is not bigger then the original space. today iv looked again and made some templets, i'm going for a 6 cm channeling now, dont u get the wheels touching the fenders while steering?
greets and thanks for the tips =] |
