Hello everyone...

Little presentation of a project that i've started few month ago just after I blew up the engine... As this car is very sentimental for me (first restauration wilth my grand father), i've decided to do the right thing this time from A to Z... And looking at all your projects and work, few ideas are starting to get into my head Very Happy

Result after first restauration:

Some pictures of the actual work:

If you guys havs any comments please shoot Wink

Nice job with the arms.
Are you planning to make it low? Because you should modify the arms then.

Yes I'd like to have it a bit lower, but i'm not sure yet of what I want to do with the car... What should I do on the arms to have it low. Shouldn't I just modify the suspension?

Well, by looking at the modifications which need to be done I'm not sure to be able to do so... I'll modify the suspensions in a first time and will see the result...

I should receive some parts and some tools tomorrow so this WE should be productif Very Happy

Silc,
since you have asked for comments, I'm got to say that I'm surprised you have not taken the opportunity to check the radius arm bearings while the car is apart, especially since you are making such a fine job of painting everything.
Perhaps these bearings last longer in France than the UK, but I have often found that some of the taper roller bearings need replacing here, even after only 100,000 km. It's very easy to carry out this work during a rebuild or a chassis change when everything is already dismantled, but a complete p.i.t.a. otherwise.

Btw, it looks as though you have fitted rear brake shoes and return springs which are appropriate for a drum brake car (frein a tambour) rather than a disc brake car (frein a disque).
With those asymmetric shoes, the shoe with the lining cut away at the top should always be installed as the leading shoe, not as the trailing shoe.
If they are installed incorrectly, this can cause the rear brakes to grab and make a rear wheel skid more likely... Sad

Other than that, got to say how lucky you folks are in la belle France, with so little rust on the bodyshells.
It can be quite a task here in the UK keeping up with all that welding.

hth, Ken.

Hello dyanut,

Thanks a lot fot the comments! I indeed didn't realised that the rear breaks where not fitted correctly. I indeed must correct this ASAP. Regarding the roller bearings they have been changed after the first restauration (20 000Kms ago). Wink

I will put more pictures after the WE.

Thanks again mate Wink

Thanks Bjorn...

Shocked It is very strange to see someone with exactlty the same paint and pattern as mine as this is not the original color. The blue is the original blue from citroën and the white is a genuine white...
I not sure to keep this paint anyway... I'd like to do a mat dark silver grey on it with some pinstriping.

What do you guys think about it?

I don't like the colour as it is now...

This blue and white stripes really look like "nothing new". This color combination has been seen so much time...

A mat dark silver grey can't be worst for sure, but also nothing really new. Depends what you're looking for, but if want a mat paint, why not a dark red/braun, or anything with dark color?

I prefere to paint whole car. That look now is quite depressing.

you're right guys. I definitly have to leave this blue and White paint on the side and start over with a new one...
Etienne, for the mat paint you've mentioned a mat dark red/marron paint. Do you have in mind a kind of Rusty style? Not a big fan of it... scared to get bored of it... arfff... difficult choice to make! I've got time anyway... As mentioned earlier I have to modify my rear breaks and the next step is restoration of the wheel base...
If you guys have any other ideas or coments, please shoot!!! I'm willing to get any kinds of ideas Wink

Oh yeah nice! I really like the first one. It is a bit like the color of the 2CV charleston a bit darker and in mat of course Wink
That should be fun. With some nice pinstriping on it. Well by looking at what is done at the moment and thinking of the amont of work that I still have to do... It is gonna take some time!!!
