Hi,
here some pictures of my car, although when it is a custom it is or was only a light custom. I had it lowered as on these pictures, but I set it higher again recently, because lowered looks good but is useless to drive. The engine or actually only the inlet and outlet system are lightly tuned. Some specs:
- Lightened flywheel (thanks Dimi from BCC)
- K&N airfilter in an airbox, combined with bigger jets.
- lambda air/fuel ratio sensors in both exhaust channels, combined with a lambda display on the dashboard for optimation of the jet setting.
- empty and increased crossbox with a straight pipe out...
All this does give more noise and at least a bit more power at high revs, with an awfull lot of noise Wink

Well, and as you can see it work on a good day.

Besides this car I have done some more projects...

Sadly enough this 2cv has to go soon, so when you're interested...

But there are some more projects on the burner, like twin carbs and a AZ from 58 in which I'll put a early ami engine.

Cheers, Bart

Hello,
I'm not only playing with my ripple but also with my bleu ride. Some months ago I got another bonnet given and painted it mat black, quite a good little idea I thought Confused
But now I'm bored with the high looks of my 2cv so I'll try and put it lower again, probably with slightly stiffer shocks later on. Furthermore I have set of slightly rusty shitty looking bumpers, so I'm strongly thinking of putting those on combined with a front fog light.
Thing I'm not so sure about is what to do with the bonnet? Shall I keep the matt black one or go back to the bleu one?

Thanks in advance, any other good idea is obviously welcome as well!!!

Cheers, Bart

This looks good, now just a bit lower and maybe old (early 60's) grille painted
also matt black. I like your rims. Find also old rear bumber or cut 2/3 down of
you bumber off.

Here is my idea of chopping rear bumber:

Actually of 1 bumber you can make 2 bumbers.

Yes I have been thinking about that as well. I'm not so sur about a 60's grill to be honest, because it is a very 80s 2cv.
About the rims, I found caught that idea from my beetle scale model which I build years before I got a 2cv.

Once I got the 2cv which was accidentally bleu, I had to do that in real as well.

Okay, you mean making it that narrow. I was actually thinking of 2cv special style bumper, but I must say this looks rather good Cool and might actually make a good mix with a 60s style grill.
Only thing which crosses my mind now is how can I weld the two together without marks of the welding afterwards. I mean I can obviously weld from the back side but I recon you get heat mark on the outside of the stainless steal bumper Neutral. Unless I do it with a normal steal bumper offcourse, that shouldn't be a problem at all.

I think it can be just cutted. It can be open from down, no one sees it.
So its only half hour work then just make new fixacation and look right
level of bumber in car.

There is stuff on the market with which you can brush out the heat marks from welding. If I am not mistaken belgom alu will do the trick also.

I really like those two colour wheels, they look great. I think i would go back to the blue bonnet/hood as the rest of the car is in such good condition. If it was a bit rusty then the matt black one would be ok.
The raer bumper that is cut down looks a lot like the rear one off an early Austin Mini. I have one of these and am fitting it to the back of the Red Baron before i re-paint it. I will post photos when its on.
REALLY NICE CAR THOUGH EITHER WAY Cool .

Black bonnet also looks good, maybe with a alumium look or black 3 spokes grill. I think the older one with the chevrons looks to old for your car.

Hi,
I finished the lowering last weekend, setting it lower was easy but balancing out the load on each seperate axle was a real bugger. I did this based on a tip I got from on of the Burton mechanics http://www.burtoncar.com/pages/Nederlands/Handleiding-tekst/Burtoncar-com-Handleiding-tekst-toonHandleidingTekst/357561.asp I'm sorry but it is in dutch, what you basically do is setting the highth of the car for each seperate axle.
- Jack up one axle in the middle, than wobble the car a bit left and right and up and down.
- Check and set the highth of the loaded axle such that they are equal on both sides.
This should balance out possible diagonal unbalance, besides I did put and engine and gearbox (=~ 70kg) on the place of the driver seat to account for the weight of the driver.
Because it was lowered it was difficult to get it balanced cause it hit bumpstops and the towbar hit te ground, so i took that of temporarely. Weather it was worth the effort, I dot know jet , but will let you know in the next month or so.

All in all I think it is quite a good little change.

When it drives okay I'll modify a set of shock absorbers with slightly thicker oil and when that works I'll try and modify a set of front arms.

Cheers, Bart
