thanks guys for all the kind words! it was really cool to meet you!
i got back from my trip yesterday, about 2500kms. Salbris was really cool and the car performed great so alltogether a great vacation.
and dule, i did meet you shortly, when you drove off the second hand market on (i think) thursday. but indeed, another time :)
as promised!
PICS!
the small tank is connected with a big hose to an original tank, so i now can tank about 31 liters
a real cool oldskool body shop did the louvres on the sunvisor, they did a great job. check http://www.austinseven.eu/.
notice the indicator switch on the door .
still some details to adress, but for now it's done and i'm glad of that. considering that i'm now 22 years old, that this is the second car i own, and that i learned welding, body- and paintwork in the process, i'm pretty proud. as you may have noticed i work at burton car company but i'm not a mecanic there.
about the ride:
with the uprated springs and the modified shocks i feels really really tight on the road. cornering speed at dry surfaces is huge . at this rideheight i have no problems with wheels hitting the fenders, or chassis hitting the ground. over speedbups is also OK (we've got a lot of them in holland). but the downside is that is on bad road is tends to dribble away a bit. maybe i'll try less thick oil for the dampers.
i also want to change the stance a little bit. it has to be tilted forward more i think (so higher in the back). and also change tyres:
now is:
155/60 on the back,
135/70 on the front. (the front tyre has a higher profile)
go to a high profile tyre on the back, or, a low profile tyre on the front?
greetzzzz kadaver |

You could mount 165/45/16 from nankang these are 3% smaller than the 135/70/15 tires it will make a lot of difference on the front |

yes, next time I suppose
you really made an excellent car! well done, one day I'd like to make sth like this to be support vehicle for my bicycle/bike. that's why I've asked you how long the bed is when the back door is opened! would it be ok with you someone would copy your idea for the back door? |

thanks man! your bike can't be too long than;
with the back door in a vertical position, the bed is about 135 cm long.
with the door closed (slanted) the length at the top is 110 cm.
but i think with this bodystyle, the bed could be a little bit longer.
or you could search for a LWB chassis...
and about borrowing the idea, no problems, everything has been done before
ciao! |

@ kadaver:
Was it a good choise the 170% springs from ecas?
I think you've got them as well, or am I mistaking?
Thinking of ordering them as well in the near future |

hey wout,
indeed, i have the 170% uprated springs, and i also modified some standard LIP-shockabsorbers by putting just regular 2cv gearbox oil (70w) in them.
as you might know, this trick is described in the 'lowering, a few questions....'-topic in the Technic-section.
or click
HERE
the combination of the shock and spring seems just right to me!
about the handling,
i'll quote myself from an earlier post:
Quote: | about the ride:
with the uprated springs and the modified shocks i feels really really tight on the road. cornering speed at dry surfaces is huge . at this rideheight i have no problems with wheels hitting the fenders, or chassis hitting the ground. over speedbups is also OK (we've got a lot of them in holland). but the downside is that is on bad road is tends to dribble away a bit.
|
the ride is more harsh, but the standard 2cv seats are ofcourse very comfortable and soak up most of the bumps, resulting in a perfectly comfortable ride.
i've seen your car with it's sporty seats at Citromobile a few weeks back. i have to say i would'nt put those harder/fixed seats in combination with the uprated springs on my own car.
i'll guess you'll just have to try! |

Yes, I know that trick.
Shockabsorbers are no issue, we've got adjustable ones.
We're not going to change the springs on the pick-up, because we've got bigger springs allready on the pick-up and the raidcar. (diameter 130 instead of 110)
But I have an other chassis with small springs for a new project, an azu250,
thats why I wanted to know if you've got the 170%springs from ecas and what you're experience was with it after a while.
Thx for your replay! |
