I think "Mad Snail" is better than the Mehari.....but....
Why does it appear to be rear wd?
And why does it need a big 4 into 1 exhaust ?
Surely the slogan "original is beautiful" deserves a 2 cylinder, fwd pic?
I do like the high clearance..... better for Raiding.
For me, low is not good! Here in the bush I need lots of height, lots of suspension travel, and a sump guard !

Mad snail is great. Mehari sucked big time, I'm not a big fan of Mehari coz it's a joke car, and I hate 2cv's joke car image.
This is my favourite for now:

I think so................
I haven't seen a better one........ yet!
I very much like the "just pulled out of the barn" style.
I like the "custom chopped" and "minimal" looks, including lowering of the body by sectioning or channeling.
I like the "slow" attitude..... believe me, I know what slow is. I've just completed 14,000km in 6 weeks going around Australia in a 12hp 425cc. I've had many hours behind the wheel with no change to the landscape for 250km, and being overtaken by triple and quad road trains, and being buffeted by oncoming monster trucks........ and I still don't have a desire to get a 602cc.
I understand the Snail style includes an element of "in your face" and "I just don't care what you think"
And I notice a general appreciation of a wide variety of car styles and mods. I would expect Snail includes an appreciation of retaining the essential original practicality of a 2cv. Indeed, anyone using a 2cv as an everyday car should be applauded.
I suppose that even a Gasser as illustratred might even find a place in someones heart as a worthwhile project. (However, I'd suggest that is neither low nor slow!)
While I will readily modify or customise my own car(s) partially to make a statement of style, but also to increase practicality in my daily use, I would not customise where it (significantly) interferes with the use of the car.
If we want to be seen on the streets (in real cars), if we want an occasional bystander to nod approval, we should be retaining a good measure of practical comfortable driving.
A prescription of style (via photoshop), including extreme lowering cannot contribute to the appreciation of the variety encompassed by Snail.
While its interesting to display wonderfully creative "dreams" of style, even to offer suggestions for members projects, I don't think it helps to directly criticise any members taste or desires for a practical comfortable 2cv.

Bob, I think you got the point of the forum.
But the banner changes often, and can refers (for the fun for example) to different kind of style of classic modifications.
So when a heavily modified Gasser 2 CV meets on the same banner "original is beautiful".... this makes all the fun!

Yes Etienne,
I realise its all for fun........... and it IS all fun.........
And a variety of banner pics is more fun.....
I hope that casual visitors don't get a wrong first impression of the forum, if the banner pic is too far towards the fringes of the included variety.

I still love that third one Olli, I think it would make a great hotrod even if you have to fit the engine in the back to achieve it _________________ In-the-Shed Speed Shop. |
