Hello,
I think, I can make my first kilometeres with "la Belle" ... but how to handle a new engine ???
I have bigger cylinders with 652 ccm inside and now I want to know if somebody has some instructions for me, whow to run an engine with new cylinders. Somebody told me, that the best way it would be run to the top of a hill with about 80 km/h four times and let the snail run down slowly. That would make sure, that the engine runs over a large spread of engine speed.
Other people told me to handle a new engine with care and I have to drive is slowly.
I donīt know ... can anybody help?
Greetings from Germany,

Hello Phil.
If the engine is completely rebuilt with new bearings as well as pistons, rings and barrels, then you should drive the engine at a lower RPM than normal for about 400-500miles. This will 'wear in' the new parts and they will last a lot longer that way.
If you only replaced the pistons and barrels(cylinders), then the same rules apply as above, but only for about 200-300miles.
Regular oil changes are the key to a reliable long lasting engine.
Every time you drain the oil and change the oil filter, you remove most of the harmful deposits that have gathered in the sump.
Replace with a good quality oil and it will run for ever . _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Isn't it also a good idea to change oil and filter after running in the engine, after 400-500 miles - to take care of the "running in" deposits?
