Mmm... I trade my LNA gearbox a few day's ago against a Axel Long 4 Speed gearbox for Stefan's project
According to Stefan you can use the housing of a GSA gearbox and use the gears of a visa. |

Hello Robin,
LN (602ccm) differential ratio is 4.375
LNA (652ccm) difff is 4.125. Most Visa Club has also 4.125 but a German 2CV guy has got a Visa Club box with 3.888!
Which engine/car do you use that you have enough torque for long gear box?
I use LN gear box + injected Visa 630 engine. Recently I removed the catalytic converters --> much more power. I can't imagine that my box is too short (no highway tax stick 'vignette' bought). But I'd like to have a long fifth speed for cruising.
»Horst
EDIT: Forgot most important hint: Pay attention with swapping differential tooth wheels. They're very sensitive in wrong distances --> measure/indicate very accurate!!!!! Check Citroen workshop manual for details. At citdoks.de you can find a German instruction. _________________ »Ami8i Break http://megasquirt-de.serviceline.ch/success/index0001.htm

hey Horst,
I will use it in a 2cv (2cv typeR)
I have a visa engine with 630 camshaft and 644 heads and cilinders.
I tought the lna would be a good choose because I calculated it on the cats website.
With gearbox woul you recommend?
Until now I drived it on a dyane gearbox. Now I also have a ami8 gearbox here but that I have to restore.
I am thinking of putting a faster camshaft in my engine but not sure about that.

hello Robin,
unfortunality I have no tuning experience with 2CV body, even I don't know if my engine is currently too waek/strong/ok for LN in better streamlined Ami8.
Your tuning is rather common --> you'll find anyone who is willing to share his experience. I heard that 'your' engine should make 40hp.
My injected but catyltic limited CR9.0 engine made also ~40hp (Streetdyno) at 6000rpm --> the OEM Ami8=Dynae6 box was ok.
If you plan to use a hotter cam shaft power peak will increase --> a longer gear box could be too long because you may not be able to reach e.g. 7000rpm in 4th gear with Dyane gear box (55hp!).
40hp+2CV=130km/h
130km/h: Ami8/Dyane6+135Michelin= 6200rpm
130km/h: LN+135Michelin= 6000rpm
130km/h: LNA+135Michelin= 6200rpm
45hp+2CV=136km/h
136km/h:Ami8/Dyane6+135Michelin= 6500rpm
136km/h: LN+135Michelin=6200rpm
136km/h: LNA+135Michelin=5900rpm
50hp+2CV=141km/h
141km/h: Ami8/Dyane6+135Michelin= 6700rpm
141km/h: LN+135Michelin= 6500rpm
141km/h: LNA+135Michelin= 6100rpm
55hp+2CV=136km/h
146km/h: Ami8/Dyane6+135Michelin= 7000rpm
146km/h: LN+135Michelin= 6700rpm
146km/h: LNA+135Michelin= 6300rpm
I guess a longer gear box than LN would not make sense in a power optimized engine, I tend to believe that the 2CV6 gear box is best.
If your goal is to increase torque (volume?) a longer gear box would make sense.
Jeroen cats told me that ~40hp (better its torque) are maximum for 2CV6/Dyane6/Ami8 gear boxes. This was one reason for me to swap to LN box (I could add the Axel brakes also with adapters to the Ami8 box)

Horst
Then I think an ln gearbox sames to be the best solution.
ButI think its even hard to find then a lna gearbox ?
I would be the best for me because I won't to add some more tuning to my engine in the future and then the dyane box will be to weak.
And Indeed the possibility to add axel brakes is very interesting.
About your injection. Does it cost match?
And does your site exsits in english or duth would be grate!!
greetings Robin

Hello Robin,
@best ratio:
check jeroen Cats 652ccm+GS box conversion site. One guy took a GS1015 i4=1.120, iDiff=4.375 which ist just a little longer than LN. Ami Super is too long.
A fantastic gear box would be a short GSA 5speed box i4=1.133, iDiff=4.375 and a ffith gear for cruising. But I think GSA fifth is too long --> my dream would be to 'shorten' the fifth (some crude ideas in my head).
When I installed the LN box I had to relaize that space is limited even in an Ami8 --> I moved the project far far away.
All those gear boxes are hard to find, but now and then anyone is happy to get rid off the damned old stuff. :)
@Axel brakes...:
...are also hard to find. I got a new set of them but decided to use GS/GSA discs which are not so heavy (inertia).
@Injection:
MegaSquirt is rather cheap. Minimum is 150€ + Win95 laptop.
I'm sorry sites are German only, but I made many pics to show each intersting detail. For genmareal information the MegaManual is very very helpful. There are also some other guys in this forum who use MS.
@Pictures of Ami8i.
I typed a rather long article to introduce the Ami, but I added some links. This is forbidden for new members, I didn't recognised that and all text and links were gone. I asked the moderator but he hasn neither replied nor rescued my posting. --> I'm tired to do the same again, here some pics http://www.kultur.at/flame/flame02/gast1/gast007.htm

Hello Etienne,
I guess I took a look to the memberlist and sent PM to 'admin'.
Would be fine if you (or admin) could find the posting.
Thanks

Hi Robin, do you want to sell a visa gearbox? I need one, or maybe just the clutch housing and input shaft. |

Hey Horst
Sow the ln gearbox is takes more place than one from a 2cv?
I tought it fitted without any problem?
I think the belguim car inspection does not allowd a transformation on to injection because it would be very interesty.
