Right, planned to start a topic much earlier but never got myself on doing it.
This is my current project an AZ from 1958. I bought it in bits for 200Euros from someone in Alkmaar (north of the Netherlands) nearly 6 years ago After I got it, I welded most of the chassis and than left it and rebuild my former RHD charleston, shown here http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=40 (this car is sold now to someone in the UK. Yes!!!)
Anyway this is what it looked like on the trailer the morning after my dad and I picked it up
The rusty chassis is under the body.
And here the body, panels and other pieces in my shed.
My plan with this car is making it a period tuned/custom 2cv. Therefore I bought an early ami6 engine, gearbox and driveshafts which look quite the same as the original 425unit and at least suit early 60s style. This engine and box should do very well in a 2cv as well because Citroen used this set as well in the Belgium build AZAM6.Furthermore I'll lower it, although I'll initially keep it on standaard springs and see how that comes along.
Since I got back from Berlin last summer I seriously picked up this project. Finished the chassis, tectylated it, rebuild the axles, welded the bodyshell and right now I'm working on tectylating the body and panels. I got many more pictures, but still have to upload them to my laptop before I can post them her.
Ciao, Bart |

Great idea!
I was thinking doing the same when I had my rusty ami 6, but also with ami6 frame (big spring box, 4 hydraulic shock absorber)! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Here some more pictures:
As said I rebuild the chassis a couple of years ago and made completely new side legs to support the floor panels myself later. Finished it with a good tectyl treatment for the inside and the outside of the chassis.
Fitted the axles and spring units. I did take them all a part before and replaced some bearings, seals, rubbers and other neccesairy things, but they were generally still very good and most of all needed to be cleaned and painted which was a bugger of a job but the result is nice |

Okay this autum I rebuild the bodyshell, it took a lot of time, but that is where a concussion is good for
Didn't seam too bad... I have cleaned all rust of the floor (start in the left picture)
First I welded the new pieces behind the rear bumpstops...
Cleaned more rust of primered it and welded a new edge in.
Not borred jet?, don't worry, this is just te start... |

Than is was time for a number of patches on bottum and inside of the sills, luckally the outside didn't need any welding so that still looks like it was 20 year ago :) and a new crossfloor. I forgot to make pictures of that. Here is the finished crossfloor and the holes I made to get replacement pieces in the rearbox.
AND finally it topped it of with new floors! Yes!
I wirebrushed all the transport coating of the floorpannels cause this appearantly comes lose quickly and causes rust. Coated it al with a decent steel primer. |

Thanks Fredo, I do need it because during the work the body appeared to be worse as a expected.
Sorry to all of you I didn't keep you updated and post all pics almost in one. My head didn't like computer work, didn't sort out the pictures I made and post them earlier on.
Cheers, Bart |

Good pics, good work Bartje!
When you start this kind of work, you always find more rust than you were expecting for! _________________ www.super2cv.com |
