Would look much better with a "new" bonnet instead of the ripple one, I would say.

Question: What do you mean with "era"?
In the year it was build?

On Olli's previous car (dr.Pepper) it looked nice the new bonnet, absolutly true!
But I want to make the car look more older.
There for I need the ripples on the back, old rear doors and the old bonnet Wink
And the front doors, yeah, I was thinking of old one's as well but I am going to place newer one's..

And my holy grail isn't the old bonnet, but a modified snail car Very Happy
So now I've got to watch out for 2cv people that will worship my bonnet? Wink Laughing Laughing

I'm with you all the way!
modern (90's) running gear, and 50's looks

style with usability, it's a no-brainer Cool Cool

for me the interior is the killer, that's where you sit, and what you see when you drive, I put a huge effort to keep the patina in my interior, I only have to sit in my car and I'm smiling, when I drive it the smile just gets wider!

Yep of course.

But in that aspect it is 100% better to crane a real 1950s body onto, say, an AMI8 602 chassis, than using a 70s or 80s model and using just the bolt on parts to try to make it look like it's period 50s. (a 2cv6 with a ripple bonnet will still have the crappy rear lights, for example)

Do you see the nuance there is between both approaches ?

If you go about finding, then changing all the parts and welding up the windows, fitting the proper doors (the rears too, not just the front suicide) the rear light panel, the slim rear fenders, dash equipment etc etc you're better off buying an AZ or the like, repairing the floors and sills, and then refering to my first option in this post.

And thats the ultimate no-brainer, too Laughing

that pretty much sounds like my car!!! for which I was slated for on here Shocked

1966, so pretty interior, but tiny engine, and sadly six windows and mid generation bonnet.

I honestly tried to love it as stock, but the engine died a death, so it had to be "enhanced" !!

Yeah, but in 66 the ripple bonnet was long gone, and you had a "cool era 2cv" nevertheless. Trying to "age" it was what got you slated, because it has style in heaps as it is... If you wanted to modify it, all it needed, if anything was an updated drivetrain and suspension and the rest left near or total stock.

Okay, I think that I know now what you guys mean.
If I am not mistaking "era" means the period the car is build?

@ JoZeF: it's better to buy an old body and do it like you say.
The issue for me is that I don't have a old body of the '50 or '60
Like I said, I have 2 half body's of a azu and one half body of a normal 2cv.
http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=176 is one of the two that I have now.
Yes, a lot of work but I don't want to throw it away.
Don't worry, it's not going to be a car that just have the old "bolt on" parts.
I even try to fix the correct cabin (a smooth one instead of the 2 "humbs")

Okay, it's not 100% original as a real '50 body, but I think that most of the people even wouldn't notice that (if I do it right) Wink

But can you explain to me what you mean with the rear light panel?
Or do you mean 1 light on each side instead of 2?

Hey WOut

yeh era = period

I'm sure you'll do a quality build. I was just ranting on about some builds you see with a 2cv6 with just a ripple bonnet and stock headlight bar, I'm sure you see what sort of "projects" I mean Laughing

About the rear light panel I was referring to 2cv berline Wink

All right!
Thank you JoZeF for explaining!
Now everything is clear!

And yes, I've got the picture! Wink
