True

But I think what Etienne is saying, is that these wheels were probably used thinking "oh cool, 3 stud wheels that will fit on my 2cv (whether they look good or not, it's easy and cheap) "Oh, damn, not the same stud distance, well, I guess I'll make some adapters" (whether the rims look good or not, rather than finding really nice rims, and doing the same adapter job)

I get the point.

By the way, JoSeF, I saw you put 203 wheels on Speed-O-Grave.
Stop me if I am wrong but to my knowledge, those, and GS rims too, have a deeeper offset than 2 CV's, no problem on the rear, but if one is not using (like you) AMI super or 4WD Mehari steering arms, they will interfere with steering rods.

Just want to be sure, I have a set in the barn, waiting their turn.

Hey Lionel

No idea, actually, whether 203 wheels will cause the same problems on a 2cv axle as GS/GSA wheels do...
Julien (Bender, on forum2pattes) has fitted these 203 rims to his Dyane 13. However, I don't know if he did any mods or not...

but it's nothing a blowtorch can't fix Laughing

Those rims are "Dunlop rims", accessories for Peugeot 304 in the 70's

What about these wheels? Does somebody know something about these..? I got these with 2cv -62, where was Ami Super chassis, G13 engine, modified driveshaft connectings... I wanted only these wheel. In fact, I saw them about 15 years ago, before I had any interest to 2cv... They were in one strange Citroen garage bolted on new Ami super chassis with new AK arms and this G13 engine... Then they "got lost", over ten years, but finaly i found them...

These makes me wondering that are they hand made, especially these holes-they look like they are made without machining..!

Maybe next summer my Dyane looks like that..?

So small world..?

Hi Pete

You are talking about machining original hubs and drums to accomodate 4 studs aren't you ? not making bolt on adapters ?

The second option does exist I believe... but the first option would be much much better....

Cheers

jep those bolt on adaptors already exsist, hoffmann 2cv in germany has got those in their collection. they've got 2 choices, 1 for 6 stud wheels (Merc A-klasse) and 1 for 4 stud wheels (opel, nissan,....???) but their quite expensive....... (i think)

I'm going to mount vee dub rims on my pick-up project and make my own adaptors. weld them in the front to the hubs and screw them in the back.

I don't get why make adapters. Mostly for the back.

Just drill 5 holes in the drums and weld the screw... It seems really easy!

For the front, I talked about it to Geoff, it seems more difficult but he can do it. So between give some job to Geoff and buy adapter to get crapy mercedes wheels and ugly wider axle, I don't hesistate!

Its not as easy on the front simply because the hub is not flat like the rear drum

Any decent guy with a Lathe and machining tools can modify these parts.

About those Jasu's wheels. Like I have been sayin they are not my
favourites. whit small work they could turn out guite cool.

-Change tyres, some "smart" sizes 175/55/15, 145/65/15
-Install MoonDisks on them, sizes of them start from 10"
so there could be size what fits in these rims.

Thanks Olli, looks very nice..! Let's see what we can do in next winter..? And yes, these tyres are quite horrible.

Just bought 3 and 4mm aluminium sheets, and in garage there is lots of cutted aluminiun circles. And got idea to mount them without any holes outside... Wink

if the weels you get have the same ET value this is possible, but most (all)rims will come far to much to the inside so the outside of the tyre is even further inn than with an original snail rim an this won't fit in the wheelarches. so in the back you need at least 20 mm extra and with most rims you need even more!

but I aggree, why bolt on ugly merc wheels, but at least you can get many alloys with this boltpattern! (or 4x100 pattern)

Wheelarches are easy to cut and weld...

And anyway in 5 studs there is many many beautiful rims. You can even get them in size close to the original 2cv wheels...

Example :

4,5" wide! No problem!
