hey guys,

it's a long time since i've updated on this project, but i just wanted to let you know that work is still progressing.

haven't taken that many pictures but i'll post a few to give you an idea of where the project is at. the goal is still to go to Salbris with this car, although i'm not sure how to make that happen Laughing

first of all i had a major engine problem with my 2CV, which turned out to be a worn big-end bearing. i decided it was time for my thrusty 2CV to come apart to give up it's parts for the pickup.

the next day i attacked the spring canisters and dampers. i ordered the 170% uprated and lowered springs from ECAS and went in the canister fine. they don't seem to be very stiff, but i'll see how it works when whe car is properly weighed down. and no need to extend the tie-rod ends.
i also put gearbox oil in the dampers which stiffened them up good.

do not worry it'll get lower

but i also had a lot of filling and sanding to do. i have alsolutely no experience doing this, but i enjoyed the learning curve. i'm quite pleased with how the fenders are now smoothed out. the cabin of the car needed also filler around the windscreen because of the chop and deleted ventilation shutter. in total i think i've spend about a day or 10-12 to get it ready for primer.

i'm picking a color tomorrow and first color will go on this weekend i hope!

rebuilding my engine with another (used) crank:

wood for the bed is western red cedar. it's got nice flames and is super lightweight which i think is important. the pickup will probably weigh a little bit less as a 2CV. i won't treat it, hoping it will turn a nice silver color.

It looks great!! I like how the exhaust comes out between the cockpit and the rear wheel and look forward to more pics, especially of the rear end.

PS - when looking through the earlier posts I saw that you asked me for a photo of the Guzzi silver metal flake paint job - I had missed that - will get back to you on that.
