Well, HELLO.............

I am Spookeend, the nick menas "ghost duck" Partly because my 2cv has been dead and rebuild 2 times, and because my last name is "ghost" (in english it means ghost)

i have found this forum searching for images arround the net. Specially custom 2cv's and photoshops like the ones olli makes.
I "blow" them up to the size of an A4 sheet, print m out, and keep them in my book, i love it.

Well, something about me.
Duch dude, 30 years, married, one 3 year old boy. I used to be a chef, but now i am a housekeeper. Just maintaining the house, and raising the boy, and letting my wife do the moneymaking. It's a choise we made.

About my car. Well, i bought it when i was just 17. It was my first car, and it had to be a 2cv. I was "born" and raised in 2cv's so, i had to bring back childhood, as my parents evolved into a BX.

Brief history.

Partly restored the 2cv (an orignal black one from 1982)

Drove in it for 9 months.
Got crashed by a car from behind.

Drove a visa.................(no further comments)
Bought a donor 2cv.
Build a new one from out of to totalled cars. (with help from friends and daddy, lol)

Painted it black again.

Got all tired of polishing and taking car of the paint.
Painted it black with Hammerite (good over rust, hahahaha)
Got some nice looking steel wheels. painted them silver grey.

Well, that is more or less how it looks right now.

Some modifications i have done.
Bought custom wheels, not made by myself.
Tires front 145 wide and rear 155 wide.
Custom open air filter (works better for me then the dyane way to get air into the engein) to get more air in my modified engine.
Engine fitted with visa cylinder and pistons.
A custom sidepipe (more for estetics then for performance.
Anti roll bar from an ami. Wich will be soon be replaced by four new Avo shocks.
Citroen CX Gti frontseats, and the backseat is covered in the same fabric as the front seats.
Visa mapholders on the doors. Custom panels, more soundproof.
Custom dash, as much gauges as i could find.
Redone the complete electric system. So, fuses and relais so every here and there.
Put in a bad ass "Northstar" battery (little larger then original)

I'a a participant in a world called dB-Drag. And, even though i am always the underdog, i manage to get ok scores with it.

Now, my car is kinda empty, because it is now used as a family machine, since we have yet one car, the 2cv.

So, that is my main second hobby, in car audio (not entertainment) to get as loud as possible with low freqensies.
A killer install build in another 2cv, from a friend, is now the participant in the audio contests.

As looking arround the forum, i feel kinda out of place with my audio interest??
I am hoping you will like the things i have done to my car.

And, from time to time, i build websites. So, offcourse i have one of my own, in dutch, but should be ok to navigate though.

www.spookeend.nl for more images.

No problem, it must be an after thing you installed in this forum, or some bot that was allready in the newest forum software. Because i made several of these forums, but never used this option. Can't see it in the admin options aswell, so, must be a newer package then the ones i use.

Just wait and see. lol

Well, like minded people need to stick together.

Laughing

I know nothing about car audio, but there are some quite fabulous looking (and efficient) systems out there...

As far as audio goes, I would like to fit a Train horn to a stock 2cv... and tour round town with it Laughing

You mean the brand of that system?

It's called "Audio-System".
It has a great valeu for money ratio, also the ammount of power it produces for the costs is very good. And, most important, it sounds very pure. Putting in subwoofers and amps is not a problem really, any boom kid can do that, hahaha

But making it sound good in a 2cv, with custom sidepipe, open air intake and the normal driving noise? I wanted a clean install, not to much space taken away from my passenger compartment. Most people make speaker fit in the back of the car, there is more room. But as an music lover, i like the music to come from the front. You don't turn your back to the podium at a concert, right?

It was a lot of trying out, and a bit of a gamble, but this set from this brand is the only set sofar, that can play in a very small box, 2.7 litre, and is still able to manage a lot of power. There is 150 watts per side going to the frontset. So, without making me tired after listening for more then an hour (what is the case in many cars, because the balance is gone in the sound) you can drive my 2cv, with the roof open on the highway, and still enjoy the music.

For now, the 2cv is our only car, so, the large subwoofer has made place for a smaller one, fitted in the spare wheel compartment. I am currently building a new subwoofer box, wich can be taken out very easaly, so the 2cv can always be used as a family car.

If anyone wants to take a seat, and listen, if i'm on a meeting, you're always welcome to listen (when it is ok by the meeting, and when there are no people bothered)

Little note, i totally dislike being anoyed by people driving their sound systems into the neighbourhoods, so, you won't be cathing me doing that, it's only loud where i don't bother other people.

This i say extra, because "we" (audio-freaks) have a bad reputation because of the (what we call) sjonnies, who don't give a damn about other people.

i totally undertand. i hate it when people have music booming out. i dont do it. Rolling Eyes i am good most of the time. but i respect what other people want. im sort of working on my system. very slowly.

im not really building it all up into the car either. dont no wether its becasue im lazy or not. i have a van so its not like im limited for space...

the whole of my car needs soundproofing as it rattles like a bitch. im thinking of putting them into pods like these,

but its work in progress.....

Soundprofing, yeah, uhm, well, we have just bought 25 kg of bitumen mats, to put into the doors, bottom and bootlit. The bonnet will be sound proofd with special other material, hahaha.

If your speakers are very shallow, you could mount a pot like that on to your door, and make the sound still come from the front. In a van, don't place the speakers to close to your ears, like richt behind the seats orso, you will getting crazy by the high notes, lol

set up at the minute is two above my head, with the rest right in the back, with the sub. id like the have the speakers from the back to be on a swinging type hing. so i can have them facing out the back of the van.... buts its going to be a lot of soundproofing.

That is one hell of a dashboard. I was thinking of putting some speakers in a similar place on the shelf, but never really got round to doing anything... I wouldn't be able to put those boxes in my car as I'd have nowhere for my legs to go! Looking ace. I have such a wimpy set up at the moment, just got four speakers in the doors. Had a sub but it was a little mismatched to the speakers, so thats in another car now. Would like to see the spare wheel sub box, that is a solution and a half. Stick the spare under the bonnet and away you go!
