Need a bit help with my Ami Super again, is the rear brakes different to those on 2cv? If they're different, does anyone know where to buy drums and brake shoes? I know they're LHM and not DOT, but I don't think I need to replace the brake cylinders at this point..

Hi dude,

yes, Ami super rear brakes are different than 2cv's. They are bigger. Then , drums and brake shoes are different. Even the break cylinders are bigger. I'm not sure, but I think Acadiane rear brakes are close from Ami Super's.
Note that the estate has a supplemental part for the rear brakes, a brake distributor.

To find this spare parts, you'll certainly have to look at the usual providers, spare parts manufacturers, resalers, Citroën garages, ...

Are you sure that the rear brake shoes for Ami Supers are different from other A series cars?
I'd thought that the diameter of the wheel cylinder changed, with 2CV/Dyane using 16mm, Acadiane/Ami? 17.5mm and Ami Super 19mm.

There are some shoes described as Ami Super on Ebay at the moment and they're for 180mm diameter drums.

Of course, the hub and wheel bearing are different, to suit the larger wheel bearing size, but in the past I've replaced cracked rear drums on both an Acadiane and an AK400 by removing the studs then fitting 2CV drums.

Thanks, I can confirm that the brake shoes are equal to 2cv. And now my brakes are fine again after fitting new shoes and greased up the moving parts. The old brakes on right rear wheel were metal to metal, but not for so long so the drum was OK. And the cylinder was stuck on one side, but now it is fine Very Happy
