How about this factory made mother of all AMI chops?
Lowered, widened, hydropneumatic and GS powered...
"...this car is a GS prototype, housed in an Ami 6 body, lowered and widened to accommodate the GS mechanical bits..."

It has been destroyed of course, like most of the Citroën prototypes... _________________ www.super2cv.com |

I knew this photo. It's funny to see how citroën was specialist to make prototypes of its future models whith used body shells. When I was young, I leaved near Paris in the Chevreuse valley. It was one of Citroën's favourite testing spot for its future models and I saw many times prototypes of the BX housed in a GS body and protypes of the XM with CX body. Nowadays, this kind of prototypes seems to not exist anymore. Computers are able to simulate all the tests needed by this kind of prototypes before. _________________ I'm a Rod Breaker

I'd say that pretty much all the vehicle manufacturers are still using "bucks" like this. _________________ >>Mikael |

I was googlezing for Burton web site, and Icame across this, not quite traditional/old style custom but...
The article say that a Dutch designer named Rob Wolkers created that for SolidWorks Product Design Contest 2007. He based it on a, guess what, 2cv chassis and named it Burton Elementz (would they be working on this Brute?). And since I am a big fan of the Ariel Atom... |
that thing looks fun, but I don't get the point of such a "hi-tech" looking design on such a low-tech/low-perf/low-life chassis and drivetrain

true
but thats precisely why I don't see the point in something with looks inspired by the Ariel Atom, but with the lame noise of the 2cv and the fact that it can be overtaken by modern 50cc mopeds _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

Jozef, you are right.
This guy was making a contest on Solidworks, maybe he's not a good enough mecanical engineer to create his own chassis and mecanics.
He thought about his old 2cv laying around in his backyard:
"hey! I've got all dimentions in my greasy workshop manual, enough saved for mecanical conception!"
And see, We like that
JoZeF wrote: | low-tech/low-perf/low-life chassis and drivetrain |
and that unmistaken
JoZeF wrote: | lame noise of the 2cv |
and the fact that, everyday,we can have legal speed fun trying not to be
JoZeF wrote: | overtaken by modern 50cc mopeds |
on another point:

well Clôd, you are wrong, and so Hjulius you are right...
I saw a few of those "bucks" parked in Velisy PSA design center.
Shortened peugeot 106 hiding what seems Citroen C2 underwears, older 605 that could not close their hood alone...
Computers can simulate, and lower the number of (expensive)bucks while trying more solutions. But human being still have to test, if only for homologation. _________________ 0 to 70 in the same day! |

Ah, long time since we had one of lionels "multiquote out of context" posts to hide his lack of arguments _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.
