New post so the welcome here thread dosen't get to crowded.
For Waterboy:
Getting parts in Australia is not a problem i have a very good contact in Melbourne, David Grice, he is a bit of a legend with 2cv's IMO. He has access to a lot of parts and cars which have been imported. Also there is the Viking, Peter Fosselius, in WA who imports parts from europe:
http://www.2cviking.com/catalog
Also check out Aussie Frogs for 2cv's and parts:
http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44&daysprune=-1
don't expect to get any luv from them if your going to modify a 2cv thou!
I should say getting standard parts is not a problem, things like 650cc Visa engines, Ami chassis/gearbox, etc, are very rare if non existant.
2cv's seem to sell for around $5000 up to $13000 for a nice Charleston. I've never seen a custom 2cv in Australia and all the owners i've met are simply interested in keeping it original down to the m7 citroen stamped bolts! I hope this will change

How much 2cv's there is in Australia? when they did import them?
(in Finland there have been 7000, maybe 1500 left. Imported between 52-81)

up to 800 nation wide i've heard but it is at guess 300 -400??. I know we did get a large shipment of the Slough 2cv's from england. My old man has car number 26 off their production line... No idea when they where imported.
A few cars are bought over every 4 years for the Raid Australia:

Some are usually left here and sold on, i have seen a few left hookers getting about, we drive on the same side as the Poms.

A friend of mine needs a 2cv or any old cool Citroen for a magazine shoot. He is based in Melbourne but will feature any Aussie cars. |
