Right childeren, a bit later than promised, but here are some pictures of the work I did, although I didn't make many.
New brakes and I cut a old drum to exactly adjust the shoes. Did the same at the from, but now pictures of that.
Here the tyres:
As it is standing now. I told myself it won't come down before everything for which it needs to stay high is done... see how long that is gonna take, hope it come down soon.

Right, I got some things sorted!
I got a M4 flighwheel lightened and balanced, thanks to Thomas Roth, a collegue of mine http://www.roth-kraft.de/
It was about 10kg and is now about 3 to 4, can't remember exactly how much Thomas took off, but it is way lighter
Fitted the thing.
Fitted my engine, exhaust etc. and finally put the chassisplate back on.
Job for Christmas holidays: fit the electrics... (got a new loom so shouldn't be too much of a prob.) _________________ I like to play

I have also machined flywheel down from 9 kg to about 5, a friend had took off from it about as you did but he now has a problem going up the hill, well, the clutch has a problem about that, the only problem that he has is to find time and the place to change it a bit more often |

Hello Bart,
What kind of tires is it?
Where did you buy them?

Silc, one is a oldtimer firestone, the other a remould michelin with almost the same pattern. The firestone came with the car and I bought the otherone from EEEC.
btw, a lightened flighwheel does make the engine react director on throtle and hills, yes. But if you have a problem going up a hill you just lack torque/power. A flighwheel is just a dead thing, it doesn't give an engine more torque.
And if you clutch can't cope with it, it is just worn out, or you got to much torque _________________ I like to play

Malte wrote: | hey bart, that looks good. how much is it lightening the flywheel? i'm also thinking about doing that. | I paid 120 euros for a one off job. I needed too as it is for an M4 engine which has a different bolt pattern bzw. PDC is unique for this type of 2cv engine. Even those 120 euros are a joke considering the amount of work it was.
When you want a lightened flighwheel for a standard 602 you better get one from Burton or such, they get them done in batches and get a much better price (about half..)
If you have a 435 , let me know I have some _________________ I like to play |

Just realized I didn't post anything in 2010...
However my car is gradually getting there, just had a weeks holiday and finished some things so it is now back on its wheels.
Most technical things are in place and in working order. Starter and altenator are checked and refurbished and all electrics work, only when I switch the ignition off the engine keeps running...
I also built a custum exhaust. Here the brackets I made from tubing to avoid direct contact of the mounting rubber with the exhaust pipe.
And the complete exhaust. It looks dead simple, but to get it exactly right was some 2 days work.
Engine sounds really good, even though 1 cylinder doesn't seem to burn properly as the exhaust doesn't really get hot on that side... got good compression and spark have to have a good look again.
Will try to keep you updated _________________ I like to play |

Oeps, more than a year no update... Although I only worked on this project on and off, a few things did get forwards...
Sorted the bad burning problem, which appeared to be a bad spark plug in the end, after I rebuild the heads, which needed doing anyway. No pictures of this tough.
Finished the other little things and made it ready and running.
Finally took it to tüv test just before Christmas:
However this was not very succesfull, actually not at all...
Apart from a couple of small things the tester was not happy about the (amount of) welding on the chassis, but most of all it appeared that the front of the chassis is bend. One chassisleg is about 1cm lower than the other.
Just today I went to get an new tüv approved chassis from these guys: http://www.duckservice.nl/
and the car got the same look in the garage as where it started some years ago... |

That car looks cool, bummer of the chassis and the weldings.
So, a new chassis is needed, but do you need to grind and weld it again?
Or can you pass the control like it is with a new chassis?
Good luck with it |

It was good to look over this thread again, particularly like your lightened flywheel! I had just assumed it was finished and back on the road, but these things do take time.
Lets hope this is the final hurdle for you.

Oh dear. Like that would matter something in 2cv. Too bad that they don't have real problems over there so they have to wast everyone's time.
