My 1969 renault 8 had a 75 bhp 1400cc in the back and just the battery and spare wheel in the front.
It was awesomely cool to drive.
and it wasn't mid engined
This 2cv should be very fun, provided the suspensions are hard enough _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

yeah, thought about that to, however i need the space there for the gastank and the radiator. that why i was thinking of making a cageconstruction for the gearbox and use de space of the "normal engine" for the other stuff.
But if you have an better idea, .....
o, and the 2cv brakes, aren't they a little to small for the weight of the car? _________________ 2cv 1.5 ti mid-engine |

use just a 2cv gearbox and fill it with cement
I'd say the 2cv disks are enough for the car.
My Alfa Ami had Alfa discs on front and AMI 8 drums on back and was perfectly good enough (at the time )

hiya
no, not sold yet. not really done much about it.
it seems fast enough, though.
I have (too) many other things to finish but I've got plans for it once the easy ones are done. _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

2cv brake disc has same diameter as Bx,
GSA brake disc has same diameter as Xm V6 and Td..!
Just for thinking about is GSA brakes "enough"... _________________ Make it today, tomorrow it's probably illegal... |

Mind you that it is not only about the disc size, but also abouth the surface area of the piston(s) in the caliper and the pressure of the brake fluid behind them. _________________ I like to play |

as said earlier...
An AMI 8 (heavy body) on a Super chassis (heavy chassis) with an Alfasud 1500 engine and gearbox, is correctly braked with the Alfa brakes and AMI 8 drums.
I'm sure a 2cv disc brake gearbox on the front of the car will be more than good enough.

Front brakes can be "too good" if front end of car is "too light"... So, front wheels locks up so early when rear wheels doesn't even brake jet... Ok, with brake balancer (pedal-box) that could be corrected what limits brake pressure...
Something more about Bx brakes. I measured some years ago brakecaliber pistons, and compared them to 2cv pistons. In Bx brake there is one piston, 2cv has two, Bx piston is much bigger, but after calculation brake power was almost equal..! _________________ Make it today, tomorrow it's probably illegal... |

He Marc,
Picking up your project? My house is almost finished, so within a few weeks I'm also going to work on my project again
I think fitting the right brakes is just try and (hopefully not to much) error. Like Jazu and Jozef said, you need more break power in the back. Just try an 2cv gearbox to find out if you need more break power in the front (I don't think so). |

maybe even a drumbrake gear box, cause you have DOT brake fluid so no problems with LHM, and a bit less brake power, maybe ?
What are your plans for the suspension ?
cheers _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.
