how do you go about channelling a car that doesn't have a chassis ????
I mean, granted, anything can be done, but...

The DS has a structure somewhere in between a chassis and monocoque. There is a platform (which includes scuttle/firewall) where suspension, engine and transmission are bolted to. On top of that, there is a (welded) frame to which doors, roof and wings are bolted. I guess you could lower that frame (and also all bodypanels) over the platform, although that would be more like sectioning than channeling.

It would be somewhat easier to make sills like on the Shitroen...

You dont need chassis for channeling. In 2cv is metodh is same, you dont just
drop body on chassis. You cut body floors on edges and drop "outer" body
lower compare to floors. It goes same way in "nonchassis" cars. Ofcourse its
way more complicated but nothing magic on it.
It would be best if you can make "frame" Jig which is bolted on Axle bolts to
keep floorplate straight while outer body is cutted off.

but I guess there's a reason why there aren't that many monoframe/body cars that are channeled.
By all means make one, I love chewing gum cars, but do let me know when and which roads you take so I can choose a different route

Non chassis cars has manytimes much lower floor consturction.
Thats one advantage what Monocoque body gives. Thats the reason
why you dont see or hear then channeled often.

exactly...
Add the fact that you can park the DS and slam it to the ground...
You just need a pair of well fabricated sills to join the body to the ground, like the Shitroen is getting...

The thing in DS is this odd panel under doors: PIC
So "body" is quite high even car is slammed.

I agree completely that the shortened DSes are out of proportion...
But some shortened DSes actually look kind of cool.
And if it had to be a DS for me... it would have to be an original black -58.
