Hi,

The flywheel I have on my Visa engine is the old three finger type, I am after a modern diaphragm clutch type.
Or...
Has anyone had any experience fitting a clutch from a different engine?

why do you want to go to modern one? According to vw guy, told me that old 3 finger type are stronger, better for more torque.

Harley,
there are two solutions if you want to switch to a diaphragm type clutch, swap the flywheel for a later Visa one ( a bit heavy on the postage), or use one of these...

I haven't fitted one yet, but have one sitting here ready to go into the next Dyane I rebuild.
Chris Stuart from Perth wasn't too happy with the one he tried shortly before the Raid, reckoning that the release bearing provided wasn't correct.
However, other folk I know have fitted them and there haven't been any problems.

Interesting!
First I've heard of it, I did have old three finger in my 2cv but had it 'upgraded'. I just hear that the diaphram is so much more reliable... My 2cv mechanic said if nothing else the clutch must be changed. Rolling Eyes

@ Dyanut,
Thanks for the heads up, i will give Chris a message and see if he will part with it or offer any other feedback...

yes they are more reliable and more comforatble, but the old 3 finger type can handle more torque.
