I was planning to take the Tatra, which is kinda like a supersize VW bug, anyway.

But any snailers who want to join us in convoy (friday) or want to ride shotgun in the Tatra, you're welcome!

This was the first VW aircooled meeting I went to. My eyes have been opened.

So many things a 2CV/Citroen meeting doesn't have, like:
-dragrace with 60's-70's style cars
-offroad track for Baja cars (for anyone who wanted to have a go)
-the sound of burnouts and people driving all through the night
-lots of stands with racing and custom parts
-(modern party)music and dancing until late in the night without anybody complaining

The audience seemed to be people form 18 to 40, hip crowd, little or no families and not one bearded, pipe smoking, hat wearing old fart, complaining what a shame it is that your car isn't original anymore. In fact, there seemed to be more modified cars than original ones.

A big bonus for me was that thanks to Tjeerd and Maurice (customs & classics and Kieft & Klok) I had VIP passes! And in the VIP tent, I had lunch with SHIGE SUGANUMA (president of Moon equipment)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I showed him my paintjobs, he gave me a T-shirt. It was love at first sight.

Today, some Japanese guys are coming to Customs & Classics to photograph some of Tjeerd's bikes (that I painted). Kewl!

Here's some pics I took.

A Porsche, freshly imported from the US by Kieft & Klok.

A Rometsch, also fresh from california. On friday it was just a bodyshell and original chassis. Together with some other VW shops and freaks, a racing engine, seat, gearbox etc were installed and it was lowered. On staurday, it was on the strip, together with a Hebmuller!

A Cal-look beach-bus built for one of the owners of K&K.

The Tatra was a crowdpuller everywhere it went. I even met a belgian guy who owned one and a guy who built the Tatra V8 into his VW bus. Unfortunately, the rest of the Tatra was scrapped....

MY car was a real treat to drive. 110-120 kms an hour all the way, the engine not working very hard at all, full comfort, radio on....

It was a real good meeting. I can recommend it to everyone who is into cars and a good party. Next year I will definately be there again!
