Well If you do wanna be on the gay safe side and can't get a hold of Acadiane stuff, you could order these:

At www.burtoncar.com. They're 16 euros a piece and can be shipped everywhere you please. The length is somewhere in between regular 2CV and Acadiane. They do have the added benefit over Acadiane ones that they do not have an opening in the "eye", so no dirt gets into the thread.

Well to be frank, i realized i already have longer ones fitted... the stock ones on my brother's deuche were 1cm shorter than mine! I just raised the car a little so there is 2cm of threading screwed in. Seems to be sufficient, i know plenty of people that have been driving around with less than that. I do agree that it's better to be safe than sorry, and i don't want them to snap while driving but in my opinion i am safe enough.

Today i also fitted a radio and a very simple custom dash on the passenger side. At first i wanted the dash to cover the whole space right of the cockpit dash, but i ended up with this as a start. I will finish the sides next time and probably get busy with leather to cover all dash parts, including the plastic thing just under the front window. Actually, i would prefer to cover all black plastic parts on the inside of the car.

Some pics!

My brother's AZ keeping me company

Close-up. The big hole (12cm diameter) will be used to fit the right front speaker. On the left side of the cockpit dash i will do the same for the left speaker.

Ok, let me pose a question. I just bought a nice new matte black antenna but am not quite sure where to mount it. Of course i can use the standard position on the right front, aligned with the diagonal line of the triangle. But i have also seen them placed on the rear, just below and behind the third window. I prefer this spot actually.

That's also possible of course. Reminds me of those M38 army jeeps.

I think you'd need a long antenna to get good reception.
