I would like to have a pair of ventilated brake disks something like this:

Has anyone done this on their 2cv?
Can I use standard brake discs from another car (citroen ax) with some spacers between the callipers?

You can find here what you need or at least the inspiration for parts to fabricate (spacer, new retaining spring and two longer screws)

The price doesnt seem exorbitated if is up to date.

Are those disks the right size?
Can they be fitted without adaptations?
If yes, where can you buy these?

Yes you can fix them without any modification.

Peter,
So if I do understand it well,
you can just simply exchange these ventilated brakes with the standard brakes?
And there is no need to modify of exchange the braking"claws"?
And these are no ventilated brakes, but they are carved?

Sorry, but these are just grooved 2cv disks... According to the theorie grooves don't proved much more cooling, but improve brake performance under wet (and probably filthy) conditions as the water goes in the grooves avoiding kind of aquaplanning of the pads.

Moreover may I point out that these groves are than quite expensive as a ungrooved 2cv disk costs 20 euros at my local 2cv parts shop, making just the grooves cost 105 euros.... Rolling Eyes

Anyway...
bleu, why would you like vented disks? The original disks work very well even under extreem conditions like racing. As far as I'm aware the english racers happily drive around with a fully standard system, which they probably only modify with oil for hotter conditions.

Thes disc can be purchased new, still being produced in factory, from Romania.
I was chasing a set but never quite got there, i think postage out of Romania is problem, but postage into Europe is even more...
I read a story of one guys driving across the border to get them.

Bartje,

This is the most silly theorie I ever heard. Aquaplanning of the brakes. What will aquaplan more sliks or grooved tyres? You don't need to buy these brakediscs, so no need to let anyone know how stupid this is.

Wout, indead you can simply exchange them. Nothing has to be changed. These discs are made like these, to avoid faiding. You will also have more brakingpower.

Greetings

Peter

There is noting silly about that, cause it is exactly what I've said in different words.

But to answer you question; yes, slick aquaplan quicker than grooves tyres. Same sort of applies to pads on brake disk, like I said.....

My English is not that good Bartje, but what I read out of your answer is that you say that those grooved brakediscs will aquaplan quicker than normal ones do. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards

Peter

Not to worry. To make it clear I used "avoid" which is "vermijden" in Dutch. Hope this makes it understandable...

What Bartje is trying to say is the grooves will clear water and mud from the braking surface of the disc. he is not refering to aquaplaning of the tyres.

They will not give more braking power.

What Bartje was saying is his first answer was something complete different. The text is changed now, so no problem. By the way we tested the discs and they give more brakingpower.

Yes I'd say that too! Neutral
I'm pretty sure I didn't change my first post at all and definataly didn't make major changes. You may not like me, but I'm not such a mean basterd (minne klootzak for your understanding) to change my post to get my right, like you suggest.
