Hello all,

Starting point: (Ami 6 berline 1967 - AC419 Rouge Cornaline)

Some rough plans:

- Keep the original paintjob, but "fix" some of the marks/scratches with another color primer (brown and/or grey and/or black).. would like an old style logo of some sort on the doors.. not sure about this though

- Rims already painted in glossy black

- Drop her as low as possible with stock setup.. how low can I go without (m)any changes?

- Will try how she looks with some of the old accessories that I have.. (Hopefully she won't end up looking like a X-mas tree..)

- Inside in clean original condition w/ some accessories

- Restoration of all side window double-slide joints

- Possibly a very low profile sunroof in white to match the roof.. not sure about this though..

- Detail work, such as red rear blinkers other trims, cleaning, adding the missing pieces...

- The license plate that I just received is AMZ-848 so maybe one day she will get a Panhard 848cm3 engine.. But the chances of this happening are quite low.. Very Happy

- Minor floor panel rust repairs + paint + right rear wing end pieces repair/replace

- Etc..

Better photos later..

Something already done, Uniroyal Rallye tires on restored rims + whitewall paint.. So far it looks like the tires are not coloring the whitewall paint, maybe this is due to the fact that these are 15 year old tires.. I also tried to do a proper job and follow all the instructions carefully.. so far so good.

Also got a FM radio to compliment the original Radioen:

nice car and clever and simple ideas if I may say so...hope to se the project carried on on thesee pages, not like sth other stuff here lately, started but not finished Confused

about the lowering there is topic in "technic" part of the forum here http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=85

as I've mentioned lookin' forward to see it complete soon, suggestion would be IF you decide to cut into the roof please try to recreate that opening roof like Ami6 had on some models - canvas with opening like on dyane or newer style 2CV

and about the sign...sth like this, but in my oppinion it would be better just nice and clean like it is

May I just give one piece of advice, as I almost shortened my 2cv by 20 to 30cm last week due to 10 years + old winter tyres... Under very normal circumstances they had no grip due to ageing, when I so badly needed it...
Please get yourself proper new tyres, before anything else.

+1 but anyway, after few kilometers the painted white wall will look so horrible than turtle will think about buying some proper new tires... Wink And I know what I'm talking about !

The tires are in excellent condition, very soft and show no wear. I have driven about 1500kms with them and I don't think there is need for new tires at this point.. Most probably the whitewall tire paint will end up looking nasty-dirty quite fast, but maybe I'll get a few photos taken... after that they'll be white like grandpapa's teeth Razz Once everything else on the car is "ready" I am quite sure I want to get some new "older style" tires on the car, but not in a while.

There is also "Pernod" that had a Ami 6 in their marketing.. What is it with Ami 6 and Pastis.. In 2008 with my previous ami I actually had discussions with Pernod-Ricard Finland about them using the car in their marketing events but it never happened.

For the roof, it is nearly impossible to find the original Ami 6 sunroof.. what I have in sight is the closest thing possible and also from the late 60s / early 70s, so correct in that sense.. But let's see how things go.

Thanks for the comments ya'all. I will update here on my progress, the forums are a great way to get motivation and share thoughts and info with other folks suffering from the same illness.. Very Happy

Here's a quick photoshop of my ex-ami dropped.. Probably can't go this low, but /haps something close should be doable everything else resting in stock setup, right?

I think you can totally drop your ami that low with stock setup.

Ok, good to know that this kind of height should be possible with stock setup.

No real progress lately.. frustration is building up... so if nothing else I'm more pissed off than I was 4 weeks ago. Man I really need a garage of my own.. these winter months are really nerv wrecking... DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMNED!

Well maybe I'll go see my Ami tomorrow and put the restored rims and tires on and take some measurements so that I can prepare other things..
