Damned, that's some very sad news, nothing is really important compared to the the health of your kid and i wish him all the best, and lot's of strength for you and your family. |

WOW, when something like this happens, all other things in life don't seem to be important anymore. I wish you and your family all the best in these hard times.

Thanks to you all.... Good to hear your feelings and thoughts....
My son is going well at the moment so I had some time to work on the Barbot.
It's Lead Loading time An ancient art of bodyfinishing with molten Lead/Zink and I'm still trying to master it. A big advantage to bodyfiller is that this material will bend and not break when the bonnet is flexed/warped.
The bonnet is a pain in the A.. to get right! Spend hours on trying, heating, removing and re-applying.....
Looking better now... It also adds rigidity to the bead I made (not done with a beadroller, just with a bending fork, plastic hammer and purpose made pliers...)
Is the bonnet flat enough for you? The Barbot had really nice curves and lines..... And I'm verry proud of the work I've done...
P.S. I´m using a tiny bit of plastic filler..... Didn´t want to, but can´t get everything as smooth as I want.... _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge (Einstein) |

Use aluminium filler (aluminuim plamuur) much more expencive, but soooo much better! will be much harder (you'll notice when you try to sand it down ) and it is waterproof! (I'll send you a PM with a link)
will we see you in Poland with a finished car? :)

No Poland for me. It will be next year I hope
For now a minor update on the work.... Fixing and fitting the rear end, doing some adjustments, welding, leadloading and finishing.
The result must be something like this...

Hi guys,
A small update on the Barbot project.... A shiny light is emerging
Today we got encouraging news regarding our son. MRD (Minimal Residual Dissease) tests are showing that for the last 3 months there is no sign of any form of Leukemia activity! . Hopefully this is a sign of a bright and shiny future...
This day I also started with a special and hard to find part of the Barbot: The Recuperateur Lumiere a.k.a. Beauty Bar in the Marchal headlamps.
I've searched for years for these parts and never had the opportunity to buy them for reasonable money (vintage parts traders are real crooks and some of them are scum, I've noticed ).
So today was the day to give my 3D printer a try..... It looks promising and with some adjustments I will be able to make a mould for casting some neat reproductions
The first attempt....and......, let there be light!
A example of an original part.

Thanks Vasil Tomorrow is hospital day again..... we hope that everything is Okay
@ Motomotie,
No, I cannot print in metal. I've a Prusa i3 wich can print a lot of different materials but metal is only for the riches .... Although I must not complain, I can make a 3D design, print it and bypass those crooks who dare to ask € 1.000,- for a pair of reproduced headlamps with 2 'original' pieces of polished aluminium!!
Still rough around the edges, but so is the car too at the moment. The missing mid section is also printed but not placed yet.
Lines are Ok, still some tweaking to do...
After perfectioning and finishing I will make a sandcast moulding model from this print to make some aluminium spares...... And maybe also one that will fit into a 2CV headlamp _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge (Einstein) |

Hi Guys,
Up till now my son is doing fine, we just returned from a skiing trip to Austria and he did great!!! Still we need to monitor him closely for hopefully the next years.
Project is still proceeding..... but slowly....
Update: A pillars welded, doors hang freely, steering coloumn adjusted and provisionally fixed. Now fitting the instrument panel.....
Will post some pics later.....
Still 4 months to go untill August. Hope to show the Barbot! _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge (Einstein) |
