Due to the fact that the old 'Custom Nostalgia' topic was filled up with 'Barbot' related postings this new topic was started....

In the forthcoming days, weeks, months or maybe even years this wil be the new home for all your Barbot Speciale or Yacco 2cv related stuff. For a good overview all the relevant posts are placed with the name of the original poster and the date posted.

Feel free to post your remarks, questions, thoughts and ideas regarding this famous car of which so little is known.....

So bad there is no details pics of that "barbot" 2cv... but for me it's clear that one is channelled (look at the foot of Mr Barbot). Who is gonna make a real replica ? Evil or Very Mad

Good topic idea by the way, I will see what I gonna find!

There are 22 pictures to show so here's the link:

Great pics of the Barbot! I didn't know most of them!

It seems the body is channelled, but the front and the rear are not. That's why the car looks like folded \_/

Am I right?

Crazy how the bonnet is flat!

@ Olli,

The original Barbot's. Yes, 's, couse there could be two chassis used in the process (hence the license plates) are vanished into obscurity.....

For the tyres..... Well you're from the land of the 1000 lakes Wink Do you know if they used those kind of tyres in Russia? Otherwise motorcycle tyres could do the trick.

@ Etienne,

You're 100% right but I don't know how Barbot did it. Maybe he welded the floorpanels to the upper side of the sills. If I only could lay my hands on a picture of the interior.............. Rolling Eyes

I wonder how was the suspension. This car was way too low to keep original springs and "frotteurs"...

Its hard to find that sort of tyres from russia, they used to have 13" wheels
on small cars and in big ones 15" fat or 16". Also motorcycle tyres are quite
out of question because there is no many 15" motorcycle tyres and they are
round, not narrow and square like there. And those wheels shoud be 400.
I see that easies place to find them could be swap meets in France. Maybe
someone has pair NOS tyres, in rear its not so important. If nothing else,
Michelin 125/400 is best choise.

Is that out take for mechanical tacho what we see in front of ventilator,

Owh Olli! You make life so wonderfull!

That's a nice tyre and will look good under the Barbot Razz

About the motorcycle tyres I meant those of a sidecar. My brother has an old BMW and he has special tyres on it that are not as round as normal tyres (and no, they're aint flat Laughing )

Barbot was allready in his 30's in 1953 so he must be at least 100 by now. The driver Jean Vinatier is born in 1933 and is one of France's biggest rally-aces. I think he is still alive but I don't know where to look for him....

About the mechanical tacho: I'm looking for an original (don't know the brand) but it can be reproduced: If you want a cheapo mechanical rev-counter use the speedo drive out of the front wheel of a motorcycle....

@ Etienne

I think he did the same as we do nowadays to lower our cars. I've seen a movie of the record and the car's suspension functions the same as a normal A does (bouncy). Don't forget the car is also shortened by 25cm, this also forced Barbot to alter the ride height..... Longer rods > lower car?
