I won't argue with you that the pictures you give as example are of magnificent cars done by some of the better customizers (probably). I think there are two things to seperate and not confuse. those are personal taste and the level of craftsmanship that the creator posesses. I mean, the 2cv on the other pics has some details i would have done differently myself but before i can do that i have to reach the level of craftsmanship that he has! I still have to learn how to weld for god sakes!
So, let's not mix up giving respect and opinions Everybody is entitled to his own opinion but when stated badly it can seriously offend the person who took years to build and took the effort to share it with the community that he likes. _________________

Today? Who cares about today? That's fashion and fashion sucks because it changes every day. Eighties is eighties and it won't change.
Anyway, I know the owner and I know he doesn't give anything about "today", he stopped counting when the Berlin wall fell. He's a happy guy with character which his car has too. It's not just a Dyane with Delta Mics wheels. It's a full custom with home made rims, top chop, everything. I agree it would look better with less blue in the front. But it's in proportion, it has a style (which can't be said from a lot of off rods) and he made it look good in that style.

You can add what ever in car but that does not make it "more", if it has no
taste (I'm not talking now this Dyane). I really respect work what have
been done with this car. Its not often when you see 2cv's finnished to this state.
What comes on style, I'm always amazed how this 80's style is popular
on 2cv circles. When same time in other car building scenes its what
everyone wants to forgot.

In France they're probable quite proud of their 80's creations, they don't want to forget them And in my opinion, it's not a decade that has to be forgotten. It was cool in it's own way and the better cars built back then should be admired as well. There are very few real 80's customs that are still being built. So why would we bother about this one Dyane? Which was accidentally finished in 2009

I saw that car @ citromobile.
Not my style but.... There are things on the car that I realy like.
I've got to say, he finished the car in a supercondition.
Don't know the guy, but the work that he has spend is great.
He may be proud for what he has done. |

I can agree when one says the dyane is not snail style.. But, it looks really good in it's 80ish style and it is definitly class. (all from what I can see on the pictures).
BTW, who said the other day that 2cv people tend do build it "cheap" and not build quality show cars?... _________________ I like to play |

they're "complaining" about the style, not the quality

in 50-60's look. No. But in this style (pro steet custom or what ever) time
has been changed. It could be fine on its style with some updates. I didnt
never like this 80's-90's "paint everything on body color" style (especially
when its painted with pastel colors). Today its sure quite off.

Reading this again, can anyone define "Today's style"??
I mean, those image of that huge american muscle car (i love it) the color is totally retro, all style elements are not, the car is, but the quality is today's.
If we use this '00's era style, it would mostly be all grey/silver lease cars in volkswagen style, right?
To be totally on spot, you should customize a 70's car with 70's style objects and parts, and same for 80's, 90's and 00's cars, right?
But as in the example above, the new style tuning/customizing seems to work, right? _________________ If it ain't fast, make it LOUD!!! |
