It is very rare to see that! I've been taking sharp corners with my 2CV at heigh speed (more than 50) and except have having the car doing sideways it never happened. On the set of pictures the 2CV started to roll over when the car was going revers. In revers the weight of the car is not handle the same way than when going forward.
So if you revers, you get some speed and you turn hard, you have a good chance to roll over... Going forward, it won't happen...
Explanation with the following video (french comment but you will understand with the images):

Yes you're right Silc. The racing 2CV goes backward when it turn over.
On the video of that italian white 2 CV, I'm almost sure there were something to make it roll over. _________________ www.super2cv.com |

yes your right
we had this on the 2cvgb forum a little while back
you can see that the car is almost on two wheels before it comes into shot
they drove it over some sort of ramp as the car was hardly turning when it rolled over
to prove a point they cheated
a waste of a good car |

It seems you can even see very quickly the ramp or something on the front wheel on left side. _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Well, it's a well known fact that they cheat at football all the time...
So for merely rolling a 2cv what can you expect

Max,
not very fair on Frank...
I'd put a good part of the blame on the driver of the silver car, No 90, as pictures 9511, 9512 and 9513 clearly show his n.s.f. pushing Frank's car round into a very tight spin and past the point of no return.
There's no sign of car 90 hitting his brakes either.

totally agree on the blaming part, but i am not sure if max took it out on the 71 year old driver as a blame, but, i hope, more of highlight of the drivers age and nerves still to be able and willing to drive and compete in this kind of race events. Max,
my apologies for misinterpreting your posting...
Btw, did you hear any discussion at the circuit as to whether it was just another racing incident? The Hollis boys will have to find another bodyshell, from what Russ has posted on the other forum.

Hey Ken,
From what I understand (spoke to Hollis on the blower last week) Darren, the driver of car 90 has put some money in for the repairs, although I'm not sure of the circumstances, I understand at the time the opinion was that 'Frank had lost control' but the evidence is somewhat against that...
In true Hollis style, he's bashing the dents out, and hoping to have it out at Mallory in may.
I think me and a couple of the guys have convinced him that this winter is going to be reshell time...
Amazing set of pictures though, and 'nuff respec' to Frank, who's main concern was that his wife (not a fan of his racing) didn't find out. _________________
