Hi All,

Here is my old dashboard:

Here is the new dashboard that I've just get on ebay for 45€ (much better in my point of view):

I know that my ride is not finished yet but when I see nice parts like that I just got for it.
The problème with this dashboard is the buttons:
- The no 1 has 2 positions but what is it made for?
- The no 2 for the wipers has one position on the left and one on the right. I don't get it... with my original dashboard, I've got only 2 position (On/Off)
- I don't have the rond buttpn for warnings, Do you guys have one for sale?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

- Silc

Yeah, the small version looks alot cooler then the big one Cool

I don't know anything about the buttons, but I just looked in a 2cv manual, and it says there that the nr 1 button has no use, but I'm not sure Confused Wink

No use??!! Confused Does not make any sense at all... Why would they install and develop a button with all the wiring if it was for no use??
Anyone on this one?

This is what I found
Nr5 => N.V.T = Niet Van Toepassing (means => No Use)

Thats what it says, but I find it strange to Confused

hello Jerre,

If you look carefully, you'll see on your scan that on no.6 there is no button. it is only a LED or so, but not the button mention on my picture.
Thanks anyway.

My old mehari have one of this, it is to get only one side position lights, for parking, just like when let the turn lights on to one side and turns off the ignition switch in a modern vw.

Hey, Thanks Juan,

Now I just have to figure out how to get it wired Razz
But I might do that later on. I need to get working on the body of my ride this week as the chassis is now on its wheels.
Does someone knows by any chance why there is as well 2 positions on the whippers switch?

Hi Silc,
On UK cars the number 1 switch operates the hazard lights (all four indicator lights flashing at the same time) and the wiper switch can switch the wipers on when you turn it to the right or the left. You have to remember which way you turned it when you switched them on so that you know which way to turn it to switch them off! Just another bit of Citroen wierdness!
Brooky. Confused

hump... Ok...
I was thinking as well of modifying this dashboard and replace those weird switches by some squared.
There for it would look like a genuine 2CV6 Special Dashboard

Silc,
You have completely lost me there. It's already a genuine 2cv Special dashboard isn't it? Those wierd switches are absolutely standard 2cv Special.
Leave it alone mate. You'll get used to it.
Brooky.

as said, no. 1 is for parking lights (though i use it to switch my indicator lights)

no.2. i really don't know why there are 3 stages to that button, i guess it's just the same as button 1 with another picture on it. I have modified an interval wiper switch, and linked that to step one, step 2 is continuous use of wipers.

With my 1st 2cv, a special aswell, the round wiper button had just 0 and 1, 2 did not do anything.

As far as i know, there are no round buttons for hazzard lights in a 2cv. Since they came in the club and AK's as standard (the hazzard lights), i gues they were just not issued on the specials as option?

Really, don't change any of the round ones for square ones, just place the hazzard ligt switch/button somewhere not visible. The connector that may be in you 2cv to connect hazzard lights is only for square buttons anyway. I modified a real old one to work on my car, but it was a real trail and many error path to make it all work.

In some countries e.g. Norway, the wiper switch have 2 stages. One slow (normal?) and one for fast running wipers. It was due to a traffic law that all cars should have that. Don't know if any other countries had that, maybe the other scandinavian countries?

The result was that the wiper motor was bigger than normal, and therefore the Norwegian-registered 2cv from the 70's had a hole in the plastic dashboard to have space for the motor. Ugly, but at least it was possible to have a 2cv back then Very Happy

On later models, they made the motor smaller to fit behind the dash, but it had always two stages.
