Yeah unfortunately i hit a curbstone with the bumper Sad while parking at the supermarket.

White letters on the tyres are cool i think Wink the first plan was to make
a low race look with still a bit oldskool 2cv but because my 2cv was so low i had to steer really hard. So now it`s a bit higher again not original hight but still a bit lower it looks okay now. I will post some pic`s later of the whole car my brother will paint something on the back also but that`s going to take some more time :)

Yeah, I think they were nice in 1982.

You car does not need to finnished in one weekend. Look info for steering issues here:
http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=514&start=0

And for lowering here:

With short time and low or no bucks your rarely get something good.

I think that there is something wrong with the steering arms of Jesper his 2cv. In comparison with my low aca Jesper's 2cv is steering really hard.

Usually steering gets hard when frame starts to bend, and that can be very dangerous. But in these pictures it does not looks to be problem. Is there many grease on king pin?

This is how the 2cv "stands" right now it handels a bit better now but it`s still not steering as it should be steering.

And here are photo`s of the kingpins a little bit greasy not much...

If the front crossmember for the body is damaged (the triangle boxed part under your feet) and the body is sink (10 to 15mm is suficient) probably the anti-theft collar atached to the stering column is rubbing inside the anti-theft mechanism.

This was true in my car and the stering was very heavy, and not returning to neutral position after cornering (very dangerous)

Move this collar down and the problem is solved

A badly greased steering box can also be the problem.

Anyhow try to steer the car with the wheels in the air or over a polised surface (2 borrowed burger trays can do the yob) to determine extrange sounds or irregularities.

I (jesper`s brother) had a look and it`s already taken of by jacob atleast that`s what jesper said so it has to be something else Sad But jesper doesn`t want to ride that low anymore because it`s not practical so for him it`s okay for now as long it`s not a bending chassis :)

The deuce is not in the state then he thought it was so he not going to put a lot of work in to it anymore anyway

the aca and 2cv have different steering gears (uhm so to speak)

I think it was 7 on a 2cv and 9 on a dyane/aca. So, an aca would always be more easy to steer then a 2c, because the ratio is "lighter"

This is what we found out on the mehari from my dad when trying to make a good steering end again, by using parts of a 2cv, and they did not mix Embarassed

I would think you'll would be able to find out if the chassis of that 2cv is folding or if the steering kolom is rubbing against anything it should not.

i recently adjusted the extreme toe-out of the right front wheel and now it steers so much lighter! I can even safely drive backwards now without the steering wheel turning all the way to one side! Perhaps you can check the front wheels whether they are nice and straight forward, or pointing outwards.

I now what youre problem is because I had it once too. Only I don't have a clue how you call all these parts but I will give it a try;

when lowering the 2cv in the front, youre steeringarms won't change position. So whats happening is that were the lever goes into the steeringarm, it will touch the steel. (I Circled it on the picture, it's under that rubber, you can already see it has an strange position) You have to loosen this, re-position it and youre hard-steering will be past!

good luck
