Quote: | Its a anti roll bar. almost all cars exept 2cv has them.
| that doesn't mean it is good.
An anti roll bar does what its name says, it stops the body rolling like a 2cv does very much.
Downside it that it transfers load from the inner to the outer wheel, which causes the tyres to loose grip quicker and in most cases causes understeer. To my experience this is present on a 2cv with anti roll bar as well and depending on the ride height it is very present or less present.
If I may comment on the home made brackets shown...
I don't think that is very strong example. The clamps and end plate are looking thinner than the original ones. And the endplates seem to be bolted with thinner bolts than original, as I see a nut behind it.
If I would make clamps I would first of all modify original endplates and make or buy clamps like original or have the anti roll bar clamped in bridges made to suit which are welded to the end plate. _________________ I like to play |

Hey Malte,
Check out: http://www.gardnercars.co.uk/id34.html
Quote: | These anti-roll bars are a strict copy of the type fitted by Citroen to the Ami A series cars of the 1970's and will fit any 2CV etc.
They consist of a bar that runs across the front axle tube and down over the front shock absorber flangs. These flanges are modified to allow the bar to be bolted to it.
In this way the two front suspension arms are connected to create the anti -roll effect.
We are in the process of producing a batch of these as we ran out of used ones recently.
As soon as the first set is ready we will be able to put up a picture on our web site of the complete set that will be made available.
The set will cost 150GBP ex works, in exchange for a pair of unmodified front shock absorber flanges. The surcharge against these is 25GBP |
