Thats a sunroof wind deflector. I used to have one the same as that on the roof of VW TYPE 3.
Good idea though and looks really good on the screen, cool. _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

This is what I'm proposing to fit, obviously not in that colour! It's really heavy gauge metal. See what I mean about the top face being horizontal. That 's just a happy coincidence of the angle of the 'visor' and the angle of the screen.

Hmm, I think it looks crude and heavy. I also don't like that the front of the roof bumps up just after the visor. I would make something that makes a smooth transition between visor and canvas roof. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Well, yes, I agree it does look a little heavy. It IS a little heavy but it can be modified to look a little lighter and I wouldn't change the positioning because of Tonys experience with a visor fitted flush with the upper face of the hood; forced air channelling and hood vibration.

Well, it's a good one if you'd like to start decorating your 2cv with one of these!
No, I agree with Bart. It looks too heavy, especially on a smooth little car like the 2cv.
Etienne, the blue one is just perfect! |

yeah, this one rocks!
i agree with you, it looks really improper because of the shape.
the angle is ok, but it's too long ( ahead ). and the sides look really unproper. _________________ in rust we trust... |

To counter the buffetting you could make a double-layered visor. The inner layer would end straight up against the bodywork just above the windscreen and the upper layer would flow with the rest of the roof.
You could also leave a slot open between visor and bodywork and get rid of the built-up air through that. That is the traditional way of fitting sunvisors. WHat makes these old things nice is the fittings with wich they are attached. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

All right, all right. Blimey! Yep, there's plenty of scope for improvement I know. Scallop the side panels away, introduce some curves instead of sharp angles. I can do that, but it's staying flat on the top face

What about something like that?
It's simple and should be possible to build it a similar one for a 2CV. _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Oh yes, very nice, and the visor's cool as well. You see, the tipped down visor looks good on almost everything but a 2cv, in my opinion. It's something to do with the roofline being already angled downwards well before the visor starts. On other cars, such as this rod, the roofline is flat and the downward angle of the visor compliments that.
Does that make any sense to anybody?

It does make sense. I hear what you are saying. But I think it would llok cool as well to follow the line of the canvas roof, which angles away slightly from the surface of the front windscreen and then having the lower edge horizontal.
The visor from the model A looks deceptively simple. It is actually a fairly complicated pressing with rolled edges. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.
