Hello everyone. Let's start talking about some serious modifications. Turbocharging.
We'll start with the beginning, the engine. Although the 2CV uses the flat-2 engine, for my purposes, I use the flat-4 engine. Bigger is greater. Very Happy
So... we have a 1299 cmc engine.

This is my stage 1 turbo engine. No internal modifications, but almost all parts are new.

OK, let's build the turbo setup.

Turbo - IHI RHB5, water cooled. Because the engine is air-cooled, you can easily boil the oil, so use only water-cooled turbos.

Fuel system - You can go for a injection system, or the classic carb. For now, I'll stick to the carb. One of the few blowthrough carbs you can use is the Solex 32-DIS, from the Renault 5 GTT. It just needs it's fuel pressure regulator, and a electric fuel pump capable of 3 bar.

Water circuit - Like I said, use only water-cooled turbos(my first turbo was just oil-cooled... I know what I am saying Laughing ) For the water circuit, we need a electric water pump(mine is from a VW VR6 engine), hoses, clamps and a reservoir.

Extra oil radiator - Don't get my wrong... Even with a water-cooled turbo, the oil will still heat but, especially under WOT. I use a aftermarket oil cooler, with thermostat.

Intercooler - You can go for a HMIC setup, or a FMIC setup. I tried both, and of course, the FMIC rocks.

HMIC:

FMIC:

Other stuff - You will need a boost-controller to fine tune the pressure, a blow-off(internal/external) to protect your turbo, maybe another clutch, a oxygen sensor to fine tune the engine, and everything you can think of. Very Happy

So, let's see the stage 1&2 turbo engine:

A short description... The engine was very stable at 1.0 bar turbo-pressure. The dyno chart for a Oltcit Turbo revealed that at only 0.6 bar, the power was 99.7 HP. It ran very well, powerful accelerations etc etc. Until he made place for the new project, the stage 3 turbo-engine. Let's see.

Not to many changes. The first thing was to upgrade the pistons. I now use Honda Civic Type-R pistons, for heavy aplications. Endeed, they needed some machining, so the cylinders were bored and shortened, and the small end of the conrod modified.

OK... last but not least is the water injection system. It's not yet mounted, so I cannot give you more details.

So, that's all for now. I know that maybe I forgot to mention a lot of things, but... you are free to ask. Very Happy

Like I said... At only 0.6 bar turbo pressure, the measured power was 99.7 hp. Unfortunately, nobody measured the power at 1.0 bar. But, by using a web calculator, the estimate power is ~120 hp. Very Happy
Anyways, the numbers are not important. The sensation is... speechless. Very Happy
