Nice if the sketches inspires someone... as I said this was just done real quick as a joke, nothing serious about it!
If someone would make a serious custom DS I think it could be done a lot better! even though in my eyes the original DS is pretty much cool enough the way it is.
You want it lower you pull the lever!!
Yes I know there has been a custom DS project in the media recently... and personaly I think there is just not enough DS left in that one:
http://jalopnik.com/390057/hot-rod-citroen-ds-packs-a-familiar-punch
We are all snobs in our own taste!
With regards to Foose; a genious who is probably better off sticking to his thing...(and I hope his name will survive the TV sellout)
In production I don't think any retro Citroën will ever happen, It´s just not in Citroëns DNA to look back for more than inspiration like in the C6.
But who knows, it seems to work all right for VW, Mini, Fiat and the americans...
I would rather hope that Citroën ones more make something revolutionary that turns the world upside down like when they presented the DS19!
But the chance of that happening is probably not so big either these days... _________________ >>Mikael

simply because Citroen no longer exists...
It's just a Name owned by PSA...

The prove than Citroen is just a name own by Peugeot : about the C6 they thougt they copied the DS but they actually copied a CX.
About this american DS, the DS design is untouched, so enough DS for me to look great (even if it's high-tech style). _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Well, it's at least not an ugly blobby Peugeot in styling, even if it could have been 100 times better using the same futuristic free thinking as in the time of the DS project.
And the C6 is almost as smooth as my LHS DS on the road actually...

Okay, but...
The dashboard sucks.
The engine... V8 is always cool but the engine covers don't look right
Suspension and chassis is from the stone age, completelty wrong on a DS... and rear wheel drive, come on!
The rear lights are boring and placed in a sad way...
The wheels are nothing special
It's still just another yankee with a DS body on top of it.
I would have made it sooooo much better of course

Yeah but until now a custom DS was looking like that:
100% french...
Don't you wish a little bit of the "Yankee" taste now? _________________ www.super2cv.com |

I agree with you in every way. The craftmanship on that thing is outstanding, but just the idea of putting a "solid" rear axle under a DS disqualifies it from ever entering my list of cool customs. That idea is so conceptually ... well ... lost. And the dashboard is both ugly and looks half-finished. In most other ways it is a great piece of work. In my humble opinion.
Agreeably, uglier things have been built. Those are some real horror-shows you have found, guys! But I try to judge each work independently. In a relative way, perhaps that "americanized" DS is the best one yet, though. (But note that it is the best one, probably because the body has hardly been touched!)
That's what I think anyway. As you say: "We are all snobs in our own taste!" (I might even steal that as a signature! :-)
