I'll measure it this weekend. What you really need to know is the diameter of the Subaru Crankshaft pulley... it's highly likely you will need to have a new charger pulley made anyway, based on calculations.
Looking at the displacement of citroen two pot engines this charger should be very good for a 602 or perfect for a Visa...
You just need to do the necessary mods for it to fit and work (carb or injection, intake mods, manifold, exhaust, ignition, etc) _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

You seem to have done your research. I agree that low compression would be better for supercharging, otherwise you get knockig in the engine. You can further up the boost by fitting an intercooler or water injection.
As for the cam-timing, you need to let more air in, so a bigger valve, longer duration or higher lift of the inlet valve is needed. But the overlap (when inlet and outlet are both open) should not be longer and preferably even shorter. It would be better to have a high lift cam, instead of longer opening times.
But how much extra power are you hoping to squeeze out of the wee flat twin?
I can recommend Burton Car for parts, they may not always be the cheapest, though. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Stock camshaft and valvetrain are usually perfectly useable and work out best in supercharging applications.
You need to look at changing cam and valves if you're aiming for more than 1 bar of boost, and thats starting to get on the heavy side... _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

With the AMR300 i would look at .7 bar which i beleive equals 40% increase, probably more like 30% i guess. This would be without intercooler. I think this is what they ran on the original Vivio engine, so just need to find out the Vivio engine pully diameter.
My brother (mechanical engineer) wants me to go Turbo, this one;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=320199664885
But Blower should be cheaper to install, less fabrication and give 'better' power right across the rev range, at the cost of a small increase in fuel consumption vs Turbo.
This is my daily driver so i want it to be strong and reliable.

How can you say that 0.7 bar equals 40% increase ? _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

Hypothetical equation!?
I meant 7psi not .7bar , normal atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi at sea level so 7psi = around 50% increase... obviously forced induction is not 100% efficent so the increase ends up being more like 30% to 40% increase... Hypothetically
At this pressure, 6-8psi (.5 bar), it is not deamed necessary/effective to have a intercooler, which is what i am looking at.
Cheers

Update:
My Visa engine has arrived and is a lot more complete than i thought it would be. Flywheel, manifold, Solex carby, fuel pump, alternator, engine breather all still intact!
I finally got in touch with Ecas, after 2 months , and the new engine breather is on it's way. No more oil leaks i hope...
Allan from Silly Cv's has made me some fibreglass panels which are currently in a container sailing across the seas with a 2cv ready for Raid Australia.

Hi
some modern electronic ignition suppliers for 2cv have designed one for Visa engines fitted to 2cvs, which avoids the use of all the specific Visa bits + the hassle of cutting the bellhousing for the sensors etc...
Or check out the link I put previously about that home made ignition. if your brother is an engineer he should be able to sort you out with the plans provided.

I am going to modifing the Visa to take the 123 ignition, hopefully i can get in touch with PP and purchase this product;

Language breakdown is a problem in Australia

Visa Bellhousing anyone?
I was told it would be impossible to find a Visa engine in Australia, but i got one
Now I want a Visa bellhousing, but it does seem impossible in Australia
How common are they in Europe?
Is anyone interesed in selling one and shipping it to Australia?
I want to fit a GS gearbox
Cheers

Hi Harley,
Visa gearboxes are pretty common around here, because most people combine the visa engine with a 2cv box, so they are stuck with the visa box. I had one too and kept the bellhousing and the input shaft for a possible future project. However since I haven't got a plan for it so far I'd be happy to help you with it. Sent me an e-mail when you want it and we'll sort it out.
Cheers, Bart |
